    Josh Howard is a 3, not a 4.

If we can get Maggette for Alston and some change, we have to do it but we would have to include Bonzi because there wouldn't be enough minutes for everyone.

    Francis/James/Brooks
    Maggette/Tmac/Francis
    Tmac/Battier
    Scola/Hayes
    Yao/Deke

I have a feeling that Dallas might want Josh Howard a lil bit.

Maggette would be a great addition to our team at the 2 but i dont feel this will go through. Clippers will ask for too much for Maggette and Rockets will not be willing to offer. Thats how I see that going down.

I would rather have Haslem come over to the Rockets but thats seems like another longshot.

Haslem is a good addition, but not one that I'm overly excited about.

If you can trim the roster by 3 players for Maggette, then why not.

Give them Rafer, Reed and Snyder. Reduces both roster AND gets out of luxury tax.

Don't know if they would take it though.

IMO the Clippers won't trade Maggette for Alston. However, they might go for:

Change in Team Outlook: +3.8 ppg, -0.9 rpg, and +3.3 apg.
    Incoming Players
    Steve Novak
    6-9 SF from Marquette
    1.5 ppg, 0.7 rpg, 0.2 apg in 5.5 minutes
    Rafer Alston
    6-2 PG from Frenso State
    13.3 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 5.4 apg in 37.0 minutes
    Outgoing Players
    Tim Thomas
    6-10 SF from Villanova
    11.0 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 2.3 apg in 27.0 minutes

    Houston Trade Breakdown

    11.0 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 2.3 apg in 27.0 minutes
    Outgoing Players

They get a proven PG and we get a SF-PF who can play some center. Novak is cap filler. I hate to see him go (he's one of my pet favorites), but at this juncture reality sets in. We just don't have room for a one-dimensional, spot-up shooter in Adelman's system.

However, my conclusion has a fatal flaw as far as Novak is concerned -- Peja. Peja was a one-dimensional player who absolutely thrived in Adelman's system and has never been that player since.

I heard the Clipps value Tim Thomas abnormally high. Some of it due to their lack of depth at PF and scoring in the low post (other than Brand). Just saying...

Sterling loves Maggette and is not going to trade him absent a great return, not a few roleplayers.

Also, my guess is Morey is looking for a big rather than another wing. Perhaps Tim Thomas is a realistc option under some circumstances.

Having had time to think about it..thats about the only reasoning I can accept for biting the bullet on 8million dollars for Maggette. His contract is a PO next year and he will probably opt out anyway..we save 8million to resign Bonzi, Steve. Maggette would be nice, yes, but he doesn't address the black void of a defensive PF/C to fight other western conference PF's.

You could well be correct. I have no clue. However, they did draft Al Thornton, a SF-PF, as a lotto pick. That may make Thomas less valuable to them, especially in light of their PG situation.

Last year I had my fingers crossed for a Bonzi + Sura for Maggette trade. It would have been huge, especially considering McGrady's injuries. Things between Dunleavy and Maggette seem to be sorted out now though. Maggette's value should be high again.

And it I am not sure how tradeable Bonzi is. He had the option to leave this year but stayed. It would be a really bad PR move to deal Wells if he wants to be a Rocket. I am sure Adelman has made him some promises to boot.

But I agree. Maggette is a legitimate 2nd banana, to have him as 3rd option would be lethal.

Good point. I would take Thomas for Alston. Good situational player, nice spark. But not the proven, consistent, well rounded, (mediocre) veteran I hope we can land. I guess that pipe dream rests on the value of Landry, Reed, Harris, Novak, Lucas, or future picks as filler...

If we could acquire Thomas for Alston and change (Novak, Reed, JL3, Head or Hayes -- Harris was a summer league player only with no chance of making the team), we would be set.

    Francis, James
    Wells, Snyder
    McGrady, Battier
    Scola, Thomas
    Yao, Butler
    Brooks, Deke (#11/#12)

Landry and two other youngsters in the NDBL

Head traded for a future first
Sura used for our own cap relief
    JL3 for a future second
    You get the picture.

I'd rather get Doleac's expiring than have Tim Thomas for three years. I'd rather give Novak those minutes and I'm not all that high on Novak.

If Miami don't want to trade Haslem for Alston. There is nothing we can talk with Miami.Because we need PF.

Scola is going to get the majority of minutes. I wouldn't object to Malik Allen (UFA), but our roster is crowded enough. We have to make 2 or 3 for 1 deals just to pare the roster back to 15.

If you want a much older, even smaller PF than Chuck Hayes and Carl Landry and you want to pay $7.1M this year and $7.6M next year .... sure, why not?
