I think there's a not wildly unreasonable concern among non-Trumpers that this accusation could be turned back on Democrats once they start winning again, and in perpetuity.

China stealing technology or requiring technology to be turned over in order to gain access is troubling. However the china vs USA issue is different than the Russia vs US.

China is a true economic competitor that needed to steal and require technology transfer to modernize. However, I think China is currently an overheated Japan from the 80s/early 90s. China steals technology, dumps products onto markets, and uses its central government to purchase assets across the globe. However, that type of market inefficiency isn't something you can walk away from without a massive correction. China has been spending money to stay on the other side, but they are having trouble keeping its private wealth in its borders and cracking down on mergers and acquisitions. Lastly, China still is very much tied to the US economically.

Russia is a kleptocracy with a lot of nukes and little force projection outside of that. Did we underestimate Russia's ability to sow discontent via cyber means? Absolutely. But they are very much a commodity economy currently scrambling to stay afloat amid a prolonged contraction of commodity prices. Like china, its demographics are trending poorly.

We have two different problems with these counties, but I view china more like the rising Japanese. Lastly, I prefer letting china and Japan figure out their part of Asia. I'd love for the US to let Japan militarize and sell part of the pacific fleet to them. One of the large unintended consequences of the Iraq War was showing the world have powerful our military truly is. China's military is setup to deter a US invasion or blockade.

An interesting post. I'm assuming that the mention of the Iraq War refers to Gulf War I. "Gulf War II" has had the opposite impact on the world, and is an excellent example of the phrase, "Wars can have unintended consequences." In my opinion, at any rate.

I have to disagree. Who's going to buy that after what we are witnessing today from the trump administration? Only the increasingly shrinking trump "true believers," in my opinion.

No, the second gulf war. We destroyed a relatively mordern Iraqi army with such ease even we were surprised. It wasn't even a challenge for our military which prompted a lot of military modernization by Russia and China (among others). China's military is set up to defend exactly what we did to Iraq.

They do, but your side takes first place. Your side was the target of the Russians because they knew how easily riled up you are.

Unemployment sucks. Don't blame him even if occupation of Fake News Forum Spammer is equivalent of being a janitor working the porno booths.

Not exactly ironic, but something like it. The other foreign power to point you finger at for using social media to stir up trouble is fundamentalist Islamist groups. I'm sure CAIR doesn't care for their work either. I suppose they are getting it from both ends -- ISIS looking to catalyze violence from disaffected Muslim youth while Russia works on fomenting local fear of those Muslims and clashes with CAIR defenders. Tough times to be Muslim.
