I thought that the Congresswoman who asked that question about keeping McNamee was doing horrible (Bruce Springsteen tickets??? c'mon) but when she asked that question as to why Clemens decided to rehire McNamee, that was awesome. It might be minor but to the normal guy (i.e. me) it does make you wonder as well.

I believe this is incorrect...he was given a deal that would not send him to jail, all based on the assumption his testimony/evidence was truthful

"Brian McNamee met Thursday in his lawyer's New York office with the federal agents who cut a deal with him last summer that required him to talk truthfully with Sen. George Mitchell about steroid use in Major League Baseball or face prosecution."

Sleazy people don't lie under oath for longer prison time. He must be getting something if he's lying.

Or he should use the insanity defense.

OK for him I can see where not going to jail is a motivator. :)

I have no issues with what he has done, with the exception of taking so long to make a stmt, after counsel was hired. I don't think you need counsel to say "that guy is lying, i didn't do drugs...more to come later". The gap in time makes some (like me) believe you need that time to get your story together.

As far as going to Congress, testifying and everything else...I have no issues with what he is doing. But it seems like you keep saying someone is being truthful because they go testify, when many cases will show you someone can just go testify and continue to tell their lies. I am just saying simply testifying doesn't = innocence to me. Especially when no "real" evidence can come out to show you are guilty. It is all he said she said....

Didn't Clemens have counsel ready the day the Mitchell Report was released?

Correct me if I’m wrong…maybe I am thinking when names leaked and before the report was officially out. I’m not sure. I just remember when his name came out, there was a big fuss about him having to have his counsel before he really talked to anyone.

I stopped watching when the chick from NY started asking questions. What did I miss besides the nanny….

Roger is really tightening his own noose. Truly sad that this great player cannot be a great man and just tell the truth. It's so obvious.

Unless one of these two actually admits to lying...not much ground is gonna be gained from this hearing. Sure there have been some bombs dropped, but both sides are spinning it.

Its shameful for many reason, this whole fiasco...but I'll admit it's like a bad soap...you can't help but be entertained and watch.

In fairness he probably has counsel on retainer at all times.

Did he just say the nanny's name (Lily Strain) even though they said they weren't going to give that out?

Again this whole thing is idiotic.

    Clemens is lying.

McNamee & Pettite were shown to be liars.

Congress is always full of **** and today was especially embarassing. Grandstanding at its finest. Politicans will do anything to "look tough on the issues." Why are some people so eager to hear them rip apart Clemens? Baseball gets raked over the coals and the NFL nothing? Hell - Shawn Merriman got his own Michael Mann-directed commercial after getting busted!

By the same token, I don't get where folks expect athletes to be honest, suave, smooth-talking intelligent folks who make good decisions. On the field heroics do not translate to the real world generally. Why are people trying to defend them? Of course they'll do anything to get an edge and lie or dick over people to do it!

This is a ridiculous issue and just shows how stupid American society has really become.

We're involved in two wars, the economy is in the ****ter, and the two frontrunners for the Presidency are a guy who continues to try and scare the crap out of folks about Islamic terrorism and one who yells about "change" yet doesn't explain how he'll change anything.

Yet with all of this, it seems all most people really give a crap about is whether TMZ reports that Britney spilled her Starbucks coffee or whether an athlete injected a chemical in his ass to make him throw a ball faster.

    F them all.

    Pure made up fantasy conjecture-

McNamee- "Mrs. Clements let me give you a shot of HGH it will help."
    Debbie- " What is HGH?"
McNamee- " It's harmless it will help you, trust me."
Debbie- " No need to check with Roger, or even ask what this is, or find out if it is something you guys use in training, or if there are any side effects, nope McNamee I trust you like my own husband, stick me, I'll tell Roger later."
McNamee- " Ugh, Debbie I wouldn't tell Roger, he hasn't ever tried this."
Debbie- " Really, well I want to be the first. Stick me."
McNamee- " Well, Roger prefers to call it B12."

Debbie- "Roger, honey McNamee gave me a shot of HGH, errr... B12."
Clements- "Did you say HGH? How in the world could you let him stick you with HGH? I don't even know what that is."
Debbie- " Maybe he said it was B12, just like your vitamins."
Clements- " No, I'm sure it was something I don't know about, I'm going to call him and tell him to stop sticking you with needles without my consent."

That whole episode (HOWEVER IT ACTUALLY WENT DOWN) has to be the weirdest thing so far. :D

Wait now Clemens is saying that he might've been to Canseco's house that day?

Huh? Did you miss that they presented a Blue Jays medical report detailing two of them, and a subsequent MRI of them? The doctor that examined them and stated that it was unlikely from B12 and likely from steroids? Also dismissing Clemens' weak claim that it was a strained muscle as ridiculous?

Clemens got nailed to the wall on that.
