If Cuban gets Kobe, it will SCREW the Mavs chemistry up, they are the favorites this year to win it all with LAST years team. Kobe is a chemistry killer.... I hope Dallas gets him. DD
Apparently the rumors are stronger that Dallas is leading the pack for Kobe, though it's far from a guarantee that he's going there. Let the Mavs get him. We're deep and talented and loaded. I love the Rockets potential!
The best that can come of a Kobe to Dallas trade is that Kobe knocks out Dirk in practice for being such a wuss. Bleh.
Do you REALLY want to see a motivated Kobe teaming up with Dirk? That's the last thing I want. We have enough problems with San Antonio and Dallas as they stand let alone adding the league's best player to possibly team up with another nemesis of our's, Dirk.
If they got Kobe, Dirk wouldn't be their best player. Look, if you trade your franchise player, the only fair deal is to get a franchise player back. Or at least get one that has the potential to be a franchise player. Dallas only have one franchise player, potential or real.
Let's try to comprehend this in a different, easy-to-understand manner. If you had the ability to choose any college to attend in this country, why wouldn't you go to your top choice? Going anywhere else makes no sense to me.
The celts trade their whole team except the big three for Kobe, and then signs a bunch of NBDLs to fill up the roster. And we can watch the drama between Kobe , Allen, and Pierce every single day. What a season that would be for fans!
Great trade for the Mavs if it happens, Essentially the best player in the NBA for Terry and Howard, I believe Devin harris is ready to start as well.....
Did you NOT watch that series? Was it NOT Lamar Odom who posted a 20-10 average during that series? Whatever Kwame did certainly does not equal in importance AND magnitude of what Lamar Odom did (he almost had a triple double in game 6 I believe) on the offensive end and what Lamar Odom did on the defensive end (Marion's shooting percentage was atrocious). Now, you can LOL all you want but in the end it's simple: Dirk can give you 20-10 in the playoffs. Lamar gave Kobe 20-10 in the playoffs. Is there THAT much of a difference between their numbers to say that Kobe would do better with Dirk rather than the Odom of two years ago? Of course Odom is more injury prone and probably can't post up 20-10 anymore in the playoffs but the point is still there--Kobe and a good enough sidekick (a 20-10 guy) and a bunch of role players that don't contribute isn't going to get far. Funny, I thought the reason why they had the best record in the NBA was because of continuity and chemistry that they carried over from the previous season where they actually went to the Finals. As for being BETTER record-wise with Kobe? I will put down a $20 in the CC.net tip jar if Kobe gets traded to the Mavericks and they, somehow, wins more game this year than last. I'm game if you are. Last time I checked, a Josh Howard and a Jason Terry are two different people. That means there's two of them total...which is more than one. Unless you're saying the Mavericks makes the trade of Howard/Terry for Kobe and somehow kidnaps Howard back, I fail to see how it's just "LOSING ONE PLAYER". So Utah has the ability to adjust and we don't because they have more talent? Wow. So the whole "Let Tracy do all the work while the other 4 stand around" plan and the "Give the ball to Yao and hopes he makes the bucket while the other 4 stand around" plan or the "We really don't have an offensive game plan to speak of, but lets make the best out of it by improvising" scheme were all new to you this past spring?
They would be weaker overall with Kobe, he may be an upgrade over Howard but not by as much as people think, and Harris can drive, but Jason Terry's 3 point shot is good for a LOT of wins a year. I hope they make the trade, it would mean Cuban's meddling has screwed the pooch. He already cost the Mavs one or two championships by letting Nash go....and now this..... Just proves he is more interested in making a splash than really figuring out how to win it all. DD
If I was a betting person, I'd put in $50 if the Mavs have a better record this season without the trade. What happened last year with the Mavs during the regular season isn't likely to be repeated. Remember, they went on a 50-5 run after starting the season slow. I said during the season they weren't as talented as their record indicated and the great record was due to AJ's coaching. With or without Kobe, 67 wins is very unlikely. The real question is would the Mavs of 2007/08 have a better record (or be a better team) if they traded for Kobe. If all they gave up was Howard and Terry plus draft picks, you better believe it. Over the hill Jet Terry's playing time will go down anyway as Devin Harris' role increases and Kobe would replace Howard. The Mavs would be significantly better off. And I'm one of the few Clutchfans that loves Josh Howard but he ain't close to being Kobe. Regarding chemistry, the Mavs chemistry isn't all that great either. AJ made some biting remarks about PG play after the season and everyone knew he was talking about Jet Terry. Plus he questioned Dirk's leadership ability. My point is the Mavs likely will never re-create last season. That was their opportunity and they blew it. That team is begging for a shake-up IMO.
