If the trade went down as stated, i could see Avery going with something like,

    Harris/...Barea??
    Kobe/Eddie/Ager
    Hassell/Stack/George
    Dirk/Fazekas??Ham
    Damp/diop

Not horrible depth, but not great either.

Thank you. The Mavericks won 67 games last year. Yeah they flamed out in the first round but is it really wise to alter the DNA of that team so drastically? Conversely, the Lakers aren't getting nearly enough in this deal. Two role players and and two late first round picks?

ok kobe on the mavs just scares, they will get alot better. The only thing the mavs lack is a killer instinct and clutchness and they will get both of those things w/ kobe.

I think it hurts them. Howard is a HUGE HUGE HUGE part of the team. Terry + howard accounts for like 35+ points a game for them.

Their depth would be totally diminished. Stackhouse would have to start leaving JJ Barea? or devean george as their 6th man lol. They won't have a legit bench player at any position.

    D. Harris will have to pick up the slack and be their 3rd option, but everyone has figured out that he can't shoot at all. So his effectiveness is reduced.

Why are you all sayiing this? Knowing Avery johnson's track record, I think there's no way he doesn't start Hassell and bring Stackhouse off the bench.

if you pay attention the mavs than you would know that terry has fallen out of favor with the mavs. I mean he still plays but people actually like devin over terry and kind of feel the way we did with juwan howard, in the sense that he is an over paid one dimensional player that can't do anything but shoot jumpers.

unless terry plays two guard i dont know why the lakers would want him he def wouldnt be a pg in la. they have fisher and two young pgs in farmar and critt. critt looks like he is going to be a very good player while farmar looks like he can be a solid backup in the league. wouldnt help either person's development if terry is there to play pg.

while kobe has to approve any trade chances are he would prefer to go east where its a whole lot easier to get to the finals. to kobe the only way i see he can redeem himself from all the negativity that was brought towards him is to win it all and its a lot easier to do that in the east. NY and chicago look like the only two teams with the parts that can do it without destroying the team in the process. i think NY is the better, glamorous choice (stern would love it) and kobe would be a media darling again.

either way i hope kobe doesnt get traded until after the season opener i paid decent money to go see a kobe-tmac matchup opening night

hassell is an nba scrub, any lineup where both hassell and dampier are starting is not going to get you very far, stack should start

I know people in dallas don't like the jet. Dallas is a jump shooting team though, and terry is a big part of their success and to some extent their failure.

Howard is the big piece in the trade for dallas. Terry is filler ( although still some scoring/shooting/depth to give up )

I obviously think Kobe is a HUGE upgrade over Terry. But Hassell is a HUGE downgrade to Howard.

It would be a really good business decision for Cuban though.

Right now the mavs are boring to watch ( unless theyre getting swept out of the playoffs of course :D )

But Kobe would really turn Dallas into the midwest hollywood that it has always wanted to be.

A very intriguing P-Jax interview is there. Very ambiguous and not terribly informative but to me it seems that something is up and a Kobe trade could be going down very soon.

Will he be with the team on Thursday? "I can't comment on that"
Is it possible he's played his last game as a Laker? "I can't comment on that"

For real, I hope he goes East. And especially I don't want him traded to the Mavs. That would suck.

I don't know where he's going but Kobe is as good as gone from the Lakers. Listen to this interview today of PJ. http://www.nba.com/lakers/multimedia/practice_071016.html

Unless you like watching the Lakers practice, scroll it ahead until you see the interview with Phil. IMO, his choice of words confirms something is going on and will be happening soon. I hope Kobe is traded to the Bulls and it turns them into the E.C. favorites.
