[Hear me out] Am I the only one that likes this team as it is? (in terms of adding another all-star)

Obviously there's gonna be people that say I"m a fool and this team could be better, but I feel that that IS true but we don't need to gut half the roster to get yet another All-Star and possibly waste another year trying to get the chemistry together. I'm also probably in that minority that doesn't want to see this team become another Miami Heat or Boston Celtics where it's just overpowered with superstars... it just seems so... I don't know. I just don't like it. I feel that with continuing maturity of our own core roster we'll eventually get to where we need to. If it was a free-agent with nothing to need to give up, I'd probably be down for it but not giving up a Chandler Parsons or something like that.

Everyone seems to want Chandler out of here, and I don't like that. After all he's done here, getting Howard here, getting involved in H-Town and steadily becoming a better player after every year and being a borderline all star this year? He's got a big mouth which I'm sure is the reason people here all of a sudden want his head but that will change with maturity.

Our focus needs to be surrounding the core of Harden, Parsons and Howard with veteran role-players and specialists. I personally would like to keep Lin, Asik, Bev and perhaps Daniels, and trade whoever else for some shooters.

That's just me, you can go ahead and call me an idiot or whatever, because either way I'll still be right.

another all star isn't what is preventing them from being a contender. Its defense/coaching.

If we get love, we would still be pretenders

Parsons will get $10-12 mill more than likely, so he will almost be star money. So the question is if he's worth that for this team. Or could that money be used in upgrading other spots & still sign another "all star" player for just $5mill more.

Much of our issues came from inexperience, lack of intelligent defensive coaching etc. BUT, I still think we are two or three strong pieces away from true contention. Our bench is weak, or PF and PG spot is very weak, and those will need to be upgraded in the offseason.

Parsons is not a borderline all star. He's really a Evan Turner-type in disguise.

His stats are inflated by the pace and minutes he receives.

3rd all-star is the magic pill around here. ;)

GOT A THIRD STAR, ALL THE ROCKETS PROBLEMS ARE FIXED!!!

    Need a [head] coach
    Need a starting PG
    Need a starting PF
    Need a bench

Need a third star? Nah, many just want that third star.

You got your two stars. {Or are you now saying they are not good enough to get it done?} Now fix/fill out the rest of the roster [accordingly].

The team as currently constructed cannot win a championship. Adding a real FA won't happen till next season and then the team will lose Lin and Asik. Plus at that point we will either have to overpay Parsons or lose him. In a Love trade we are essentially trading Terrance Jones and Parson for Love for the next 4+ years and 1 year of Asik, when we are guaranteed of losing Asik anyway. And that would also mean not being able to use the MLE or BAE this offseason or next.

Asik and Lin are gone 100% after 2014-15. Adding a guy like Love now allows us to use the MLE this year for a piece and next year for a piece.

So bottomline adding a player like Love (for Asik, Parsons, and Jones, plus picks) or Melo (Asik, Lin and Jones, plus picks) this year in a trade means you also get a MLE player this year and next, plus the option of a BAE guy one of those years. Waiting through this season (while preserving flexibility for 2015 free agency) means you keep the same team for this season, but can't use the MLE or BAE this year or next year. All that to hope for a star in 2015 FA or you HAVE to resign Parsons or have wasted 3 years of Harden and Howard and get left with a team that is absolutely a pretender.

I definitely agree that just adding Love, while losing Parsons, Asik, and Jones doesn't make us much better, if at all better. However, adding Love for those guys, plus adding a Shawn Marion or Trevor Ariza and vet C this year makes us better in 2014-15, IMO. And it likely makes us much better in 2015-16 after adding a MLE type player to the rotation at any number of a positions.

I think a trade for Love or Carmelo now is by far the best move for this franchise, save getting Lebron this offseason or next. And how likely do we really think that is?

Crazy, but would there be something to this? Just from a purely hypothetical sense because I would be SHOCKED if Harden was moved.

And as I say that, unless we can get LeBron, which I don't think is impossible, but I doubt it very much, I think this is the best way to build our team:

-Trade Asik, Parsons, Jones and 2016 & 2018 1st round picks for Kevin Love
-Use MLE to sign Shawn Marion or Trevor Ariza to start at SF
-Try to add backup big and perhaps swing player like Brandon Rush with BAE or minimums
    -Hold Lin for 2014-15

    In 2015
-Use MLE to sign veteran C backup like Tyson Chandler if not found in 2014 FA

I think that is the best chance for the Rockets for the next 2 years and going forward.

Nope. Absolutely nothing to it. The T-Wolves are not getting rid of Rubio, and the Rockets would be 10x crazier to get rid of Harden. If Love is coming to Houston it is to win with Harden and Howard.

Actually, Morey doesn't think there is anything wrong with the coaching so I was wrong in my previous post. 3rd star and rockets = championship apparently.

I maintained ever since the Dwight signing that the Rockets lack top tier talent to compare with OKC or Miami. I still stand by that. So I want a 3rd star. I do believe that this 3rd star doesn't have to be a superstar. I would be happy with someone like a Dragic(this year's performance), Lin(Linsanity performance sustained), or Al Horford type. Someone a bit below what everyone like to call stars.

But there's no history of any team having 3 stars still under/around 30 and not be totally awesome. If the Rockets get Love or Melo, I predict at least WCFs for next season barring injuries.

Not directed at you but with all this Harden trade talk:)rolleyes: unbelievable ), let's get this out of the way.

    Harden will not be traded.

I repeat Harden will not be traded.

Repeat after me: Harden will not be traded.

    Let's end that talk now.

    Harden will not be traded.

You can all stop with the Harden trade threads for Love, Anthony, Parker, Wiggins, Dragic or whoever. Not happening.

JAMES HARDEN WILL NOT BE TRADED.

Feel free to continue b****ing about his defense (or lack thereof). Trade? Not happening.

Rockets are looking to add to Harden and Howard. Not subtract Harden and add Carmelo Anthony. Not subtract Harden and add Kevin Love. Not subtract Harden and add Jabari Parker. Not subtract Harden and add Andrew Wiggins.

JAMES HARDEN WILL NOT BE TRADED.

    Carry on.

I agree with you. I'm actually very happy with the team as is. The only question mark that I have is the PG position. It's not that I can't live with Bev and Lin (although I think Lin is payed too much, which becomes a cap problem), but I would like to see a PG that can truly get the best out of Dwight. Harden will not be traded, but Dwight is the key to success. If the team keeps Dwight happy and feed him effectively in offense, the Rockets are a championship caliber team.

I chuckle at some of these off-season comments. Some of you need to get a grip.

You're not alone. I really like this team, and watching these young guys develop into great players gives me more satisfaction than knowing that my team is only good because they could pay superstars more than the competition could. Dwight and Harden are enough. It leaves room for other players, like TJ and Bev, to rise up.
