T-Mac came off GREAT in this interview. Like everyone else, he doesn't have all the answers, but he is making a concerted effort night in and night out to make this a better team. I think he has finally realized--like a lot of people on this board SHOULD--that whether people want to admit it or not, this team is a work in progress. It's going to take at least two years, IMO, to get this team to be a real contender. The pieces to the puzzle just aren't all there. But at least the Rockets have a player like T-Mac with the ability AND the attitude to be patient and do everything he can to help get them to that next level. Great interview...
wow...i cant believe that he compared Yao to Rik Smits...maybe Yao will hear that and come play with more fire and intensity from now on.
that reminds me of KG and his quote on yahoo game recap after the Phoenix loss: ``We got fired up,'' Garnett said. ``We sort of took the game by the horns.
That's 100% true! It is Yao's fear of being embarrised that drives him to being aggressive. That's why he plays well against Shaq. That's why in the 2nd half of the Suns game he played much better. He didnt want to be dunked on by Amare. That seems to be his biggest motivating factor so far - fear. What SHOULD motivate him is himself wanting to be the best he can be and NOT "fear" of being outplayed. Hopefully in time his motivation will change.
I heard the whole thing at you did a great summary of it. He never said Yao was inconsistent, he was just saying that Yao doesn't how that he can dominate and will figure out eventually as he adapts completely to the league. Right now, Yao gets angry and feels the need to dominate once he has been pushed around and/or dunked on. The only reason TMac brought up Smits name is that both he and Yao are guys who like it more to hit jumpers rather than to pound inside every possesion. He wasn't comparing Yao & Smits in terms of talent or how his career would end up. He really sounded sincere about Yao getting better and becoming dominant one day.
Rome is a national show. Go to www.jimrome.com, and you can hear the thing for yourself. I thought T-Mac was being awfully "diplomatic" about Van Gundy.
How many rings does Rik Smits Have? Sure Yao will bring us more Championships than that guy? For now the comment may be a fair assessment. Hopefully that will change soon.
probably because he CHOSE to come here and play for JVG. Even if Yao was the main attraction, JVG was already here - if Tmac said he didn't like the coach he demanded to be traded to play for, he would look like an a$$
Yep, would you tell your wife she sucked. She (JVG) would make your life miserable, but when the divorce is final (SF/Cat) the truth be told.
