Dang this movie made me sad. Made me miss the old gang as well.

But more then anything made me realize how badly I want Yao to win it all one day.

Haha it was kinda fun/sad to see Colin Pine hang around the airpot as Yao was getting ready to go back home. Man, I miss Stevie and Cat. :(

Wow, good movie. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Like a poster above mentioned, I too would love to see him win a championship. He is the type a guy you root for even if he does not play for your team. I'm SURE glad he's on our team though and I'm looking forward to him having a great career.

those are my sentiments exactly. steve, cat and rudy are such good people. i don't care what some writer has to say about steve. i know that deep down he is a good guy and cared about winning and cared about his teammates and the houston rockets.

overall, it was a great documentary. it's not as good as hoop dreams, which is one of the best documentaries ever made, but i'm going to buy it whenever it becomes "officially" available.

A good movie, I just like it!

One thing that strikes out is I haven't realized how much Yao has improved in these four years until I have a chance to look back at his rookie season.

what some of this movie shows is how few people thought yao would succeed and how far he's come since. makes the people who still think he's a dissapointment now, look like absolute fools.

You know I don't think that was the complete documentary, they definitely edited it to fit in the 90 min. time slot TNT gave it

I just remembered that there were a lot of LONG commercial breaks last night, and I googled some more info on the movie and its supposed to be
90-minutes long all on its own. With all the commercials, TNT probably only showed 60-minutes (maybe a bit more ) of footage.

Maybe that's why its being shown on TV before the DVD release, since technically its not the complete documentary.

yea they cut a lot out.. I remember watching it and I know they cut out the shaq making fun of how chinese people speak. They also cut out parts where the rockets and sactown played in china

I just saw it. Rudy was the perfect coach for Yao. I'm sure his laid back style of coaching benefitted Yao with all the expectations that were placed upon Yao.

Can you imagine if he would have started out under JVG?

I think we would be looking at the first Darko.

It seemed like a real family atmosphere with Rudy T. -I especially got that feeling during the Thanksgiving dinner scene.

it's crazy thinking of the stuff he had to go through. the pressure of representing your country, playing against shaq etc.

i feel like the translator fell in love with him. haha. hopefully not in a gay way.

also i like how rudy has positive emotions during the game, rather than just standing there.

once shaq is done, yao will def be the dominant center in the nba. u know he doesnt fumble the ball that much anymore.

I remember Yao said that, if JVG was his coach in the 1st season, he would have had lost his confidence, packed up and went back to China due to his heavy criticism.

If Yao ever said that, I'm quite sure it was intended humorously. I'm no JVG apologist, but there's no way that fits in with any mindset he's ever allowed us to see.

    I really enjoyed the movie.

I think Yao was half-serious when said that. I saw that in Chinese media quite a while ago. We all know how negatively JVG can get.

Rudy T was just as poor as JVG in developing Rookies. Much potential gets wasted in the NBA because most coaches have a win now mentality.By the way if Rudy T had had his way we would have ended up with Mike Dunlavey.
Yao Mings big disadvantage as a rookie was playing on a team that did not have a team game concept.
