The part that shocked me (and apparently Rich, cause you could hear him burst out like he was about to say "WHAAAAAAAAAAT?" before he hit the cough button. JVG was talking about how Yao is the worst officiated player in the league. kinda came out of no where and I think it caught Rich off guard...heh. It was awesome though.
Don't you think you are being a little hard on the guy... although I did hear the kicking the little kittens part was true... poor little p***y cats...
near the end JVG was asked who he thought was the best passer (he's ever personally seen? of all time? i can't recall). JVG answered Stockton in the half-court, Magic Johnson in the full court running the break, and Bill Walton passing from the low post (playing "point center"). he then added emphatically that there has never been a great offensive team that wasn't also a great passing team. stressed how critical good passing, from every position, is if you want to have a smoothly run offense. JVG didn't say it, didn't even hint at it, but if you payed any attention you S could F read 3 between C the M lines 5.
So JVG complains to the league constantly about the refs being unfair with Yao maybe that will put the "JVG doesn't stick up for Yao" theories to rest
I guess the proof is in the pudding. I still would like to see JVG make a bigger deal IN the game and IN the press. Whether he likes it or not, "politicing" IS a factor in the NBA.
LOL! Good one! When you build a team around gifted yet low BB-IQ players, you tend to get stuck, like how the Magic is doing right now. When you build a team around gifted and high BB-IQ players, you can easily replace role players to get better chemistry if things don't work out. When Sura, Ward, Lue, JJ backcourt didn't work, one can easily replace them with Sura, Wesley, and Barry. This team is looking awesome with a competitive backcourt, with the two superstars in T-Mac and Yao.
IMO, going to the league is the right way to do it, if any. I don't see how on the court complaining is better than going to those who control the officials.
It might get more commentators to pick it up and agree with it, which might increase pressure on the league and the officials. If just the affected side quietly complains to the league, I think it might not have as much effect as if all the smart-asses in the studio and Bill Walton etc. jump on the bandwagon and say it, too...
Going directly to the league and keeping it off TV and out of the papers might show the officials that we don't want to show them up, we just want to show them what we think are errors and want them corrected. Ive never seen anything good come from showing up an official on TV or in the press. Rasheed Wallace could probably vouch for that.
Could also be true. If the officials got the impression that we wanted to show them up, they might make even more calls against Yao out of spite. It could go either way, I guess.
The only thing that bugged me about the show was Vandermeer who kept asking questions like, "What do you think about Amare Stoudamire?" and "How good is LeBron James?" Just let the callers talk, damnit!
I left the radio on and I heard JVG talking and getting those trivia questions right but I fell asleep..effects of school starting again..boring and starts so early. I did hear him say I'll leave the 2 tickets for you.
I had to do that because I had 'his' in there but then it sounded like Yao complained to the league or something
Well then Sonny boy you ain't been watchin..... Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, Larry Brown all did it and it was VERY effective. Sometimes coaches need to make a show for their players ON the court and in front of the world. It helps. DD
When is somebody gonna ask him how big a role he had in the Charlie Ward signing? And why did we give Ward 2 guaranteed years with a 3rd year option when nobody else wanted him?
