I have been in the market for an HDTV for awhile now, and have seen a lot of favorable reviews from users buying their tv's on amazon.com for a much cheaper price than at lets say best buy or circuit city.... I do not know much about this process, obviously it is a huge risk and I would most certainly buy a 4 year warranty to cover it... I was just wondering if any of you could shed some more light on this for me... This is the TV I was looking at getting: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-HLS-5...2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1185306913&sr=1-4 any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks...
What's the risk? If you've done your research and know it's a good tv and can find a good deal, go for it. I've had great experiences with Amazon.
good choice since the LED is more energy efficient and won't cause rainbow effects like the color wheel. however, this is samsung's 1st go at the dlp without the color wheel so read some more reviews about it. it does seem like a great deal.
I guess it's just the fact that it is such a nice tv for such a cheap price, coupled with the fact that it is being bought over the internet that just has me a little nervous... So you bought one from amazon and were satisfied with the entire process?
I've never bought a tv through amazon, but a ton of other items. I think they rank pretty high on reliability. They aren't some fly by night company.
Didn't look at shipping prices, but might be cheaper at tigerdirect. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicat...628&SRCCODE=PRICEGRABBER&CMP=OTC-PRICEGRABBER
here's the owner's thread for this tv on avsforum (the clutchfans of HDTV) http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=709624
I think buying tv online is fine. I bought one of mine from www.ecost.com and had absolutely no problems.
the only thing that I would look out for is the "restocking fee" that some online companies have when you return items good luck with your purchase...if it wasn't for all the advice I got in the thread I started I would never have purchased an HDTV
make sure you read the owner's thread. they have 60 pages of user input. so far when i've skimmed it, most people are very happy. plus here's a tinman hint. look for the people who professionally set their settings and just copy theirs. it saves you time from doing it yourself. you want to make sure Yao Ming looks like Yao Ming instead of Larry Smith.
hahaha yeah good point... all that tech talk about those settings is making my brain hurt though... hopefully as I become more familiar with some of the terms it will become a little more clear... seems like everyone is very happy with it as you said though
I bought my 50" Pioneer plasma from Invision Technologies (AVS Forums recommended). Amazon was $400 more expensive. Best Buy was $700 more expensive. Didn't buy a warranty.
That is a good deal. Samsung's DLP might not rival the image of Sony's (I have a 1080i 56" from Sony that I bought for ~$1300). Go for it.
