Family room - 42" Hitachi Ultravision Bedroom - 27" Olevia (cheapo brand with a surprisingly decent picture) Planning to do a 1080p projector/92-106" screen upstairs for video games and maybe movie watching.
Samsung LN-S4695D 46" LCD 1080p My baby The kids have a 27" Samsung LCD but I don't have a pic of that one.
I have a 5 year-old Mitsubishi 55" rear projection HDTV in the living room that I intend to replace soon. And I have a new Samsung 32" LCD HDTV in the bedroom with the HD-DVD player hooked up to it(it also doubles as my computer monitor).
I have a Sanyo HD projector. I project a ~80" image. The screen just gets retracted when it's not in use and the projector sits on a shelf, so it takes up virtually no space. It's also relatively cheap compared to plasmas and the like.
2 - 37" 1080p Westinghouse 1 - 32" 1080p Westinghouse 2 NEC HD projectors - one for outside on a 101" outdoor theater, and one for presentations I take on the road. DD
Yep, I've got 22 titles and should have around 40 by the end of November. So don't ever even think of calling me a cheapskate! Incidentally, if anyone here is on the fence about taking the HD plunge, DO NOT watch Batman Begins on HD-DVD. You'll never wanna look at a regular DVD again.
They look great. The worst looking HD-DVD I own is probably Dazed and Confused and even that looks 10 times better than the Criterion DVD. Since I'm watching them on a 32" screen, I doubt there's any detectable difference between 1080i and 1080p.
For those of you worried about playing games on the Westinghouse...DON'T BE !! I hooked the 32" up to my PC and put the monitor at the end of my desk. After about 1 hour of BF1942.....I was dizzy........it was amazing, but just too big for sitting so close. Now the 32" is strictly an X-box 360 monitor and it is great. DD
I have the 42" Sony Wega HD LCD (KDF-E42A10) and I have to say the clear, crisp and vivid images are impressive, especially with HD programs. I've owned Samsung (27") and Sony (36") CRTs in the past but based on reliability, (my Samsung lasted only 1 year), I went with Sony and haven't been disappointed. It is a 1080i tv weighing only 60lbs. I believe it is one of the lowest priced 42" HDTVs you can get right now. I bought mine for $1200 to include tax about 4 months ago so I imagine it is even lower. Since it was my first venture into the HD world, I wanted a brand name that is associated with reliability, Sony is like the Toyota of the electronics world and to me, Samsung is more like the Hyundai/Kia of electronics.
sharp aquos. wife thought it was not particularly necessary. now, we don't watch tv anywhere else in the house. excellent value. high ratings. flawless picture. light weight.
what about games? do u game on it? do you use hdmi cables? i know u can get them cheap at the sony outlet in san marcos.
I absolutely love my SAMSUNG flat panel TV as well as my 2 flat panel PC monitors! Although my new 19" widescreen monitor tends to lean on the really bright side, even at zero brightness! It didn't look as bright as it is when I saw it on the sales floor. Still, very happy with them all!
I've had my 43" Pioneer plasma for just about over a year now (thank you very much HP for the internship ) and I absolutely love it. I never got around to posting my setup in the HD/home theater thread, but maybe i'll bump it and post a couple pics. Did I blow a huge chunk of change for it? Yes. Was it worth every penny? Definitely.
