    None. Get DirecTV, not Dish.

Dish has more HD channels then anyone, including Direct...sorry Harrisment....the quality on either satellite is superior to cable / Uverse.

I signed up for Uverse, had it installed and two weeks later had it uninstalled and my Dish hooked back up, I was unimpressed both in quality and features. I will wait till Uverse makes some improvements (still new) and changes and then possibly go back (like the bundling idea), but for now I need to stay with Dish.

    Good to know, thanks.

I'm one of the ones who was pleasantly surprised with a 40inch flatscreen HDTV for Christmas, so now I'm trying to figure out which is the best way to go. I already have internet through Embarq and I'm happy with them, but they have a crappy HD lineup, so I'm not interested in bundling with them. But I don't want to change internet providers either because I'm so happy with their internet service.

I'll look into Dish and Direct TV and see which is best for me.

I am praying they don't go the 150GB limit way.

Can you please describe how the wireless setup is? Meaning, how does the signal from U-Verse come into your house beginning from outside, and how does it get to your PC or your receivers? In my setup, it is as follows: Phone line, then Coaxial into the attic, then converted out of the wall into the wireless gateway as a network cable. From the wireless gateway, it is a physical network cable/jack to a PC, and every other PC is wireless. Every other receiver is coaxial from the attic. How is yours WIRELESS?

I don't know what the problem could be with the VOD.

To all those who put me as referral... I still haven't gotten your orders confirmed on my account manager... I am going to have to call these dudes to see WTH is going on. :(

I don't know about him but I had a lot of issues with the VOD. I had the U-400 as well as subscribed to two of the kids VOD subscriptions (disney and another one). Pretty much every time when I went into the VOD movies it would say "Subscription Info" and had no "Play Movie" option or if it did say "Play Movie" I would hit it only to have a screen come up saying Video not available now. Now I was able to get it working once in a while (very seldom though), needless to say AT&T said it would be fixed and get better - never saw it get better. That was one of the reasons why I left and went back to dish.

Other reasons were HD - both quality and quantity (especially when watching non-HD programming - hated the bars), the DVR features not applicable on every tv just the DVR tv, didn't have access to a few channels most importantly my kids favorite (the one that gives Dad a break) and few other silly things we liked with Dish better.

^^^ Over the past year I have watched probably around 5 VOD movies and have not used it often. Maybe I will start using it now that a lot of movies say "Widescreen" on the title. :( I am too spoiled with my PS3 upscaling and my HDTV to watch regular or standard definition movies.

I'll see if I don't have trouble with the VOD movies and report back. Good stuff, sir, I will look out for what you're saying. You don't mean the "paid" VOD, right?

I don't use VOD either that much because there isn't much HD content unless you pay for it i believe and I'm not willing to pay for it. I'VE PAID ENOUGH!! :D.

Besides u-verse HD quality isn't that great. I know i sound like a broken record but at the moment I'm tolerating it because the price is good for the channel package I'm getting. When that promotion is up I'll probably jump ship.

Is FTA HD uncompressed like OTA?

I kid ;) ! Anyway, what promotion is that you're on? You gotta explain that FTA HD stuff to me... I know OTA only.

No I was talking about the stuff I paid for, like Free on Demand, Starz-OD, HBO-OD, Cinemax-OD, Encore-OD and so on, like I said I had the U400 package. You are right, for me I would not us it that often, but with little kids (reason I ordered the Disney-OD and other kids-OD subscription) it was a nice feature, but just did not work enough and one reason why I left --- not the main factor though.

I only have two complaints. #1, no NBA League Pass or NBA TV. This has turned me into a cracked up w**** that surfs the net every now and then trying to find some kinda local feed for my basketball addiction.

#2, my DVR deleted the 08 Finals even though I still had room left to record other stuff. I was pretty pissed about that one.

I use VOD all the time and have never had any issues with it.

Do you mean to say that you didn't know how to select "Keep Until I Erase"?? I still have the Dynamo's 2007 MLS Cup Game and the 2008 Olympics' Ceremony on my DVR. Just admit you're complaining about something you didn't do?

No, I selected the option to keep it forever. It had the lil check mark by it and everything. I was quite upset.

Then it must have been because you did NOT have enough space left over. Dude. It happens. You should really get down with the U-Verse peeps to the last detail as to why it happened to you and how it shouldn't happen again. Darn it, I wished we could share content over the net. For example, if you have U-Verse, and I have U-Verse, and you forgot to record something and I didn't, I should be able to transfer it to you. No? We'd avoid getting upset we miss things.

Does the picture quality of DirecTV and uverse look the same? I've heard you can really tell that the video is compressed with uverse. DirecTV not as much. People have said that DirecTV has the best picture quality of all the providers

Def of with DirecTV if picture quality is a concern of yours. Unless FIOS is availible in your area.

I have DirecTV. It blows any other service that offers HD out of the water. Especially Uverse.

DirecTV definitely has the best PQ. DirecTV is superior to Dish.

So the best combination would be DirecTV for cable and Comcast for internet?
