you can call, but it's probably already done. i check my system info settings a few weeks ago and it says 2HD/2SD. all you have to do is reset your boxes and it should update itself. if it doesn't then call.
Oh, so you don't need a special box.....similar to Comcast? So if you have 3 boxes you can do it on any 2 of the 3?
well..yes. we have 3 cable boxes but 2 of the 3 are hooked up to HDTV's so it works out. what's awesome is that there's a CAT5 connector on the back of the cable boxes, so i just use that to hook up my xbox for some live action. saved me $100 on buying a wireless wifi connector
Just got a 47' Samsung 1080p LCD......had comcast and upgraded to HD (addition $7) and they came out and installed a new box (with composite cables...they also offer an HDMI box....two separate boxes...i thought they'd have one box with both, since i had an HDMI cable as well, but alas)....tried it out for last few days, here's my review: -Not enough HD channels (only like 20-30) -Maybe its the TV, but sometimes during fast moving scenes on TV, it pixelates for a tiny bit, enough to notice -The HD quality on some channels is much greater then others? Dunno why. My friend owns a lounge and has some Samsungs, and Dish, and it seems that his picture is much more smoother and cleaner, and offers alot more HD channels...either that or even regular channels look good on it....but problem with that is what everyone said, that it goes out during storms sometimes with signal interference. I did however haggle my way into a great deal for the HD, i didn't have to pay install costs, I upgraded to HDTV+Phone+Internet+1 Yr free HBO for $79/month And another reason I like Comcast is that it's month to month and no contracts. However, if I could find a better deal with AT&T or Dish, I wouldn't mind looking into it, since they have more options for HDTv.
U-Verse's HD is pretty cheap too. It's supposed to be $10 for the upgrade, but I just transferred my service to a new apartment and am actually getting the upgrade for $1 more than I was paying previously without HD. I can't testify to the quality just yet, as it was just hooked up this morning. I'll do a more thorough investigation later.
It's not the premium package that I'm getting for $25 less. The deal is the premium package is free for for months, and you are paying for the NFL Sunday Ticket which is something like $79/month when split up over 4 months.
Yup, the satellite people have more HD Its the channels not the TV, its the compression of the information going through the box yup yup try a bluray or dvd and note how it never pixelates, that's because its going from the player directly to your tv with a higher bit rate and no flux in compression and signal.
I have DirecTV HD and I love it ! I have it on two Samsung 57 inch DLPs . My brother has Comcast and it seems to me the Comcast HD is a lot darker and not as vibrant as DTV's picture . Football season needs to hurry up and get here , I'm looking forward to my first season of NFL Sunday Ticket !
ah cant resist a shamless plug. I'm partnered up with AT&T if anybody has any questions on the product email me through the board..
Isn't DirecTV not really HD? I heard it was 650P or something like that, they compress it so they can fit more channels.
I've been a Dish customer for 2 years and 2 months. My initial 18 month contract ended and now if I want to upgrade to HD they want me to sign another 24 month contract (which I don't mind doing) and they want to charge me for a new HD receiver, installation, lease fees (even if I purchase the dish), $10 extra for HD, and another $7 fee I can't remember for what. I don't even get FSN or local channels with this package. What kind of joke is this? I don't like companies who treat loyal customers this way. I can sign up with Comcast and get free installation, no contract, HD with locals + FSN for 30 bucks a month. Why in the world would I not make the switch?
Anyone know anything about Dish Turbo?? http://www.dishnetwork.com/redirects/promotion/offer14/index.shtml
Anyone see those "Comcast has more HD than DirecTv" commercials? Those are lame, the only reason they can say that is they count all the on demand channels and the pay-per-view movie channels. anyways, I needed to bump this thread. So Comcast offer a cable box with an HDMI output? I have a really old Scientific Atlanta Explorer 3250HD and all it has are component cables, I really want to hook it up via HDMI. I have heard that only the HD DVR box comes with HDMI output. If they do offer one can I just call them up and say "hey I want a new cable box with an HDMI" they will just send someone over to do it?
Yes they do have HD converter boxes with HDMI. Personally, I'd rather go to a Comcast store and switch it out there because I hate waiting around for those guys.
I have it. What exactly do you want to know? Seems pretty self-explanatory to me Dish HD is possibly the best HD I've ever seen. Also, SD on Dish is actually watchable
If you don't have a land line for phone can you still get U-verse? Also if the phone jack is not near the TV will they install a phone jack near there? Somehow I don't want them punching more holes in my wall. I just want to watch rockets primarily in HD. Anything else is gravy. I already have comcast internet so was thinking about going with them but their starter digital package is expensive at them moment with no promotions going on right now.
UVerse runs through your cable outlets, not phone jacks. I don't have a land line or phone jacks, and they installed a box outside and everything works perfectly (all part of the free installation)
I didnt wanna start a new thread but is anybody else's Comcast service out? I really wanted to catch the Rockets tonight but I dont know if I can now.
