    I know, haha. :D

That's a pretty slick setup, though I think having the TV that high might bother me. I'll have to invest in a slick-looking cabinet like that eventually. I have crap for furniture right now, mostly because I'm not sure I wanna stay in this state any longer than it takes for my 401(k) matched contributions to become vested (3 years)...

...and California is a walk in the park compared to Wisconsin. I'll just move back there... I miss my home state and its hot women! :D

Nice setup MB. Do you have any problems/concerns with having the TV mounted above your fireplace? I've always heard that though people like to do it, it is not recommended.

I thought it might be strange having the TV that high at first but it has never ever been a problem. When we built the house, we had them custom build the area there especially for a TV. They put extra studs just so the weight isn't a problem and they put a special kind of sheetrock that protects against the heat. There is a cut out behind the TV that you can't really see (you might can see the sill just under the TV). It's great because if it were flush with the rest of the wall, it would stick out further than you'd like due to the mount. I have one of the accordion type mounts so it will extend out about 3 feet or so from the wall. Even when it's closed up it sticks out kind of far. Also when it was built we had a conduit run from behind the TV to the media niche on the left. The only thing I have running to the TV is one HDMI and a power cable. I bought a Denon (AVR-3808CI) receiver that does HDMI switching (4 in and 1 out) and it also upconverts the other inputs such as our Xbox 1 and Wii. I highly recommend getting a receiver like this as it makes everything a million times easier. You plug everything in and it pushes it all out through one HDMI.

The TV is a 52" 1080p Samsung LCD.

Here's what we have upstairs in the gameroom . The pics aren't as good as the one's I took today of downstairs. It's the 46" 1080p Samsung LCD that we've had for about a year and a half.

PS3 or the HD-DVD add on for the 360. I personally think that the PS3 looks better.

I don't think the wifey would like it if a bunch of you fools started moving in.

We've thought of hosting a Rockets viewing party though. The only draw back is that most people don't live out our way.

I have HDMI for the 360 and PS3. I've been a loyal xbox guy but the PS3 just looks better. It even kind of pissed me off.

    i've got an old xbox360, so i can't upscale.
i'm using a samsung hdmi player, however its not that great (480p hdmi looks better to me than the upscaled res). i'm letting the tv doing the scaling.

Got a pally with a 360 Elite, with an HDMI connection. PS3 still beats it as a DVD player/upscaler, IMO.

The stuff the 360 crushes the PS3 on are online play, and that the controllers are waaay better for shooters, IMO. And identical games seem to run a tad smoother in general, IMO (Madden looks so much better on the 360...).

But PS3 wins as DVD player.

EDIT: Side note... do any other PS3 owners really not like that the L2/R2 buttons are now "triggers"? I mean, either make them real triggers like the 360, or leave them like they were. I hate the way they have them now.

i'll wait to see how cheap the PS3 goes later in the year, maybe i'll get a refurb. The only PS game I want to play is Sing Star. The xbox sucks for karaoke games (Except Rock Band).
