I undertook a job because my father was sick for about two years, my income and my mother's income was the only thing that kept us afloat. My internship was in the field of my chosen profession and helped me network and attain the job that I have now.

I didn't have any extracurriculars, I quit football to take on a full-time job and serve my internship my senior year in high school, in fact it was probably a lack of extracurriculars that hurt my chances of getting a scholarship. My grades did not suffer as a result of me having an internship and a job to work, but it did cause me many sleepless nights and lots of studying.

I was hoping for a scholarship, it didn't happen. I tried for grants and loans and was turned down. Did I lay down and give up...no. I rolled up my sleeves and busted my ass to get where I am. There isn't a failure to see what illegal immigrants arre doing to better their situations, we all know that a higher education is vital to improving your lifestyle, at least thats what I believe. But getting a higher education should not simply be given to illegal immigrants simply because they want to make a better life for themselves, if thats what they want then let them work for it like everyone else.

Well those laws aren't working at all, illegal immigrants may "take the jobs no one else will do" but are killing the social services that this state and country provide. There are a few who want to improve their situations and will do work towards their goal. There are others who come to this country, have their children on American soil so that their children are American citizens and collect welfare and medicare the entire time. And now besides welfare and medicare, you want to throw in breaks for college tuition? I personally think its bullsh!t.

I'm glad you had an easy ride through your college experience, I on the other hand didn't. I had to work hard for what I have and am damn proud of it. You have a different viewpoint of paying for education when its your own blood and sweat that pays it for rather than having the "free ride your non-busted ass" got. IMO, illegal immigrants already to many breaks in this country and adding tuition breaks for them is ridiculous. Thats the only thing that I and Astrorockette were saying in our posts.
