I thought it started off slow then picked up later on. He was spot on about his comments about women going out and men going out. I'm still laughing about it. LOL! :D

I agree that his commentary was on point (like men figuring out how to get something, and women figuring out who can get it for them), but it just wasn't delivered in a way that made me laugh.

One thing I did find annoying was that they kept switching from location to location. I think that was a bad idea.

Most things are more entertaining than Dane Cook.

I watched it and, while I thought it was pretty funny, I didn't like the switching either. It was pretty annoying and pointless. If anything, then it just showed how his act doesn't change at all from venue to venue and only his clothes and the audience changes. Chris Rock...live from five or ten places...and we'll switch between venues while he repeats a specific line at a specific point in show (insert jerk-off smiley here).

My brother went to the show in Houston and he said it was pretty different. I agree it was a dumb idea but they really only switched between London, Johannesburg, and New York....and from what i've seen comedians use most of the same material throughout their tours.

You're missing out man. Just stand-up at the Laff Stop here gets me in a good mood, let alone mainstream comedians. :)

I would add Todd Barry and Jim Gaffigan to the list.

I recently saw Bill Mayer. He was pretty f-ing funny. It wasn't just all political satire, either. I wouldn't have placed him in the stand-up category, but i think he belongs now.

btw: i saw the Chris Rock show. like most here, it was OK but not great or anything. He touches on things that he could have gone further with. Seems like good ideas but lazy punch lines...if you know what i mean.

ah yes, how could I forget Gaffigan! He's awesome.

I've seen Nick Swardson live..he's not bad but not in the elite.

    Steve Trevino was hilarious though!

Louis C.K. borders too often on "so vulgar I'm hack" for my taste.

Patton Oswalt is a weird little r****d. "SCRIBBADEEBLABBADEEBLOO!!" ...Right, Patton.

David Cross is a hilarious character actor.

None of them have given as much to stand-up comedy as Chris Rock has. He is more influential and talented than all three of the guys you mentioned.

At one point, he was dubbed "Funniest Man in America." To my knowledge, none of the names from your list have gotten anywhere close to that kind of attention.

So in what ways are they better than him?

Understand, attention is not the final indicator of talent. Otherwise, Dane Cook might be a good comic. But at least people mistake him for one. He puts on a good enough show that normal people are tricked into thinking he's good.

You can't say the same about your batch.

Chris Rock's material is top-notch. He's an A-lister, even if he's had a dip in production. At his worst, he's better than your three.

    At his best?

    Funniest Man in America.

(at least since George passed, R.I.P. :( )

Chris Rock was hilarious at one time. In his prime which in my opinion was when he had his Chris Rock show on HBO. Which I think would easily rival and maybe even surpass the Dave Chapelle show. Bring the Pain was the best. And its been downhill since then.

The people in my list are a little less predictable when it comes to topics and material. You KNOW Rock will always talk about racism/men & women differences. Hes been doing it since Bring the Pain and even before then.

We get it, women and men are different, and people are racist. He is funny, but he isn't even close to the funniest man in america or even in his neighborhood for that matter. His voice is annoying as hell after about 20 minutes. I'd rather listen to Bob Saget tell his gross ass jokes than to listen to Chris Rock for 90 minutes.

Also, the whole "attention isn't an indicator of talent" statement, doesn't apply to my "batch" When is the last time you saw any of these guys with their own HBO special. The last one I remember was Louis C.K. and Cross hasn't had one since the late 90s. The guys I named don't get even half the attention that Rock gets and are still funnier.

Watched it and thought it was good. It wasn't some of his best stuff certainly, but it was entertaining enough to watch all the way through. He had some highlight moments like the Safari tracker and ****ing for gas though as well as some Bush bashing which I loved.

The scene changing was slightly annoying, but the audio that went with the changing wasn't completely different or anything so that was cool. Was it just me or did he have a weird laugh in this one? That annoyed me slightly as well, lol.

    7/10 overall.
