It should be evident that what he is saying is common sense, and correct.

The 9/11 conspiracy theory isn't limited to those on the far Left as there those on the far Right who out of innate distrust of the government believe it too. At the extremes of both Right and Left they are often more similar than they are different.

The other thing that I don't get is why protest Bill Mahrer? Its not like he has a lot of influence on the government or the media.

Yeah, I was watching last night. They were arguing about whether or not women received better treatment in the US than they did in the Muslim world. The protest erupted and it was hard to hear but I thought I heard a line about women being killed by missiles... so it seemed to be a general anti-war protest.

Maher is becoming a bit of a Left version of O Reilly
He doesn't really listen much . . he is smug, condesending and simply mocks guest.

Politically Incorrect was interesting. . . his show now is nearly unwatchable.

I haven't seen his show in a while but I know you are referring to his stance on religion right?

I really enjoy his show. He is smug, but he's also a comedian (unlike O'Reily) so I have less of a problem with his jokes/taunts.

He's clearly liberal, but he's not afraid to bash his own. I really like Bill Maher.

I find Stewart funny, he is secular, progressive and self-deprecating.

I find Maher funny, he is secular, progressive and a smug *******.

They're both hilarious to me, in different ways. Most of the time I would prefer to watch Real Time.

I agree with most of this, except I prefer Stewart's show to Maher's.

However, I see what Rocket River is saying: Maher has become more smug as the years have gone by. Politically Incorrect was more centrist, and thus more interesting, even without the profanity. I remember one episode in particular where Maher had a white supremecist on the show, and the other guests were railing against him, frothing at the mouth. Meanwhile, Mr. Klansman was calmly stating his position, and trying to maintain civil discourse (!). He ended up looking rational, despite his racist agenda, while the other side looked crazy.

There's a lesson to be learned there.

Anyone who spends more than 2 minutes a day talking about politics is inherently ugly and annoying, so I don't watch any of this crap. And you should all be ashamed for watching it.

    The 'He's a comedian' argument . . . I am beginning to rethink that a bit.
because. . . I hear folx giving Limbaugh and Beck space because 'Their entertainers'

Bill, Glen, Stewart - ARE TAKEN SERIOUSLY
and therefore must be held accountable for their statements.
Dismissing folx who take them serious as fools . . . is shortsighted

Stewarts march showed POWER and INFLUENCE
and with great power . . .comes great responsibility

michael jackson also filled stadiums, did he have great responsibility? I understand what you're saying, but people who listen to limbaugh, stewart, or maher listen to them to reinforce beliefs, not find them.

They have moved beyond that IMO
they are truly beginning to SHAPE BELEIFS
Stewart is considered the on of if not THE MOST TRUSTEd NEWS SOURCE IN AMERICA
NEWS SOURCE!!!!! Not Comedy . . . NEWS!!!

what happens when some don't get the joke.
    Or misinterpret it . . . .

we cannot assume everyone knows it is just jest. . . .

I thought he said something about women being killed/disfigured by hellfire missiles.

    Then started screaming: THAT'S ASSAULT!!!

I like Maher, I don't think his show is unwatchable at all.
