If your a fan of theirs or haven’t even heard of them, but like obscure humor you really need to check out their new show on HBO, IMO it's the best comedy show since Always Sunny or Arrested Development.. FYI, you can check out the first show on HBO.com for one more week.. Link to the first episode HBO Sundays at 9:30pm
I thought it was great. I wished HBO would have reaired their comedy special before the series started so that people would understand what they do. If you like the show and have Oink - look the Conchords up. Their BBC radio series (that the HBO show is based on) is there.
I liked it and have it as a Season Pass now...Funny, I've never watched Sunny in Phily...Maybe I should rent it...
I like Sunny and Arrested, and judging from the commercials this looks promising. Of course something like the Silverman show looked like it would be right up my alley but I don't like it at all.
Sunny's episodes are only available on iTunes. Definitely check it out though. It's the best show on tv, period.
She just tries to hard. The jokes would be funnier if she cut them off sooner and didn't always try to take it a step further.
Just finished watching the first episode. It was really good, I'll definitely be following this one. Binary solo! 011010100001010100101...
Conchords is more like the office (uk) that the humor is pretty subtle. You have to be a fan of deadpan humor to enjoy this show. I know I am, but I also know most people aren't these days. I think anybody can enjoy them performing live though. Alot of the songs are from their One-Night Stand special a year ago, but it's still pretty funny. I get the feeling Bret (facial hair) writes most of the songs, other-wise Jermaine (glasses) would have had a solo acting career a while ago. "It's biz-ness, it's biz-ness ti-ime!"
I loved their standup special on HBO and I think it is interesting how they translate the songs to the new show... it really all revolves around the songs and I like the process... next week's episode is titled "Bowie", so we ought to hear the song above with the electronic instrumentation... and the fan, Mel, is based on an obsessed fan from texas.
Oooh, I can't wait for the Bowie ep. Do they smoke grass up there in space man Or do they smoke Astroturf, ooh yeah Oh it's such an artificial high Roll me up the Astroturf I recognized Jemaine when I first saw the ads on HBO, he was a spokesman for Outback Steakhouse a year or two ago. Bret, it turns out, was infamous for being in The Fellowship of the Ring in the Council of Elrond scene. He didn't have a line or a name, but fans named him FIGWIT (Frodo Is Great, Who Is That?) http://www.figwitlives.net/
