The episode was like all the funniest parts of past Curb episodes rolled into one. Great episode leading up to the Seinfeld Reunion arc. I want to see Leon have a convo with Michael Richards
i loved leon's story about sticking around. "no. i'm going up to my mother****ing room to eat my mother****ing chicken!" or something like that. so happy leon is staying!
Best line was Auntie Rae at the end: NSFW language: <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/80Z_03YwK08&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/80Z_03YwK08&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>
here are some clips featuring the Seinfeld cast and other guest appearances this season... this looks like it is going to be one of the best seasons yet. I love how Larry always leaves the window open for another season and it just keeps getting better, yet he acts like the show is his burden, just like when Seinfeld was at its peak... <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/kUc5vIc7IkQ&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/kUc5vIc7IkQ&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object> <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/93sz2qIafp8&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/93sz2qIafp8&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object> <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/r8wGTKyghPM&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/r8wGTKyghPM&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>
So is it fair to say Larry David carried Seinfeld? I've never found Jerry Seinfeld funny, but Larry David is a riot and you can tell he gave an identity to the show "about nothing". Seinfeld's lack of success after the show, in every facet of entertainment, speaks for itself.
yeah, Larry David was the true essence of the Seinfeld show IMO <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/a6UEY7zNrz4&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/a6UEY7zNrz4&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> but I have to disagree that Jerry Seinfeld hasn't been a success. You don't have to like him and he makes most his money off of royalties and syndication from Seinfeld (just like Larry David did before Curb), but Bee Movie raked in almost 300 million worldwide and as far as his stand-up, he is one of the highest paid and highest in demand comics on the circuit. wiki
I think he's referring to Jerry Seinfeld's lack of success after the show ended, while Larry picked up right where he left on with an even more groundbreaking show. And, while Seinfeld continued to have ratings success, the plot-lines for the last two years were a little "over the top" and "campy".... while still funny, I defnitely noticed a dropoff in overall quality once LD stopped contributing on a daily basis.
across110thstreet - Can't view the youtube right now, but the Windows ads with Seinfeld were a huge flop. And the Bee Movie was a high budget animated movie aimed at children with big name voice actors, that's atleast $200 million in the bank right there (it paled in comparison to pixar films though). I wasn't aware his stand up was going so well, but to me it seems like he's in demand for what he already produced rather than what he IS producing at the moment. I'm sure a lot of his stand up crowd goes for the feel good nostalgic factor. IMO he's a bankable star because of his groundbreaking success with Seinfeld, not based on the content he's produced after it.
That was pre-ty, pre-ty, pre-ty good. No huge laughs like the week before but it was enjoyable throughout.
Seinfeld definitely got lighter, sillier, more elaborate after LD left. I can see why some people don't like it as much. But I love it. I know that the Merv Griffith episode isn't exactly what Larry and Jerry were thinking about when they were planning the show at the Korean grocery in the late 80s, but it's still well-written, great TV performed by truly gifted people. I think it's clear that they were having fun up to the very end. I mean, the Puerto Rican Day episode may be their worst, but Kel Varnsen meeting H.G. Pennypacker meeting Art Vandaley? Gold, Jerry. Gold.
The previews to next weeks show didn't show anything about Seinfeld and also has Larry going on a date with another woman. I thought his heart was set on getting Cheryl back?

I loved Larry's first conversation with Jerry, hilarious stuff. All in all a good set-up episode for the rest of the reunion stuff. Is there any show even close to this good every week? As for Seinfeld, I wouldn't discount Jerry's contributions to the series while Larry David was there.
