Haynesworth on the block? Wouldn't he look nice lined up next to Mario?

I was listening to a report about that yesterday and kept daydreaming the Texans would make a move.

Obviously, this isn't going to happen.

    1) We've shown no interest in drafting a space-eater in the middle of the D-Line. Had we done so this year, it would've at least convinced me that it's a direction we would go in. When we didn't, and in fact drafted a slightly undersized, pass-rushing DT, I was pretty convinced the team was going in a different direction than I would have liked.

    2) Now that the draft is over, what assets do we have that would entice Washington? We'd probably have to trade next years 2, right?

The only thing that could change my mind back to the Texans and Hayensworth hooking up is the Cushing issue. Maybe they're feeling some pressure now to improve the defense and shift the local focus away from drug tests.

I think the real problem lies in the fact that he only went to college for three years and didn't earn a degree, wasn't a team captain, and hasn't played for the Denver Broncos. I'm being facetious...

Nearly three months after they wrote a $21 million check to defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth, the Washington Redskins will try to get it back, according to league sources.

He would look GREAT on our line, but I think this past draft laid to rest any notion that a big defensive tackle would be brought into our system as they like the smaller, quicker guys for some reason

That's harsh. If I wanted the guy in any way before this, I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot poll anymore. I can't remember the last time a football player got called out by his teammates like that.

He'd look great on our line if they were all sitting on the bench. He only played like every other down because of his conditioning. You gotta figure Fletcher's the leader on defense, and if he's the one calling you out then he's 100% in the dog house. Not wanting to play a 3-4 when he wasn't an impact on a 4-3, please.

hell.. we should just skip Haynesworth then and just try and see if they'll give us CP for free. :) He's only a year removed from almost 1500 yards.. he only had one other year under 1000+ for his career and he bounced back the year after. Most years he had 1500+. He's worth at least as a backup to light a fire under the other RB's.

no thanks, he sucks horribly. I'd take him over chris Brown, but we already got rid of that scrub

What a selfish jerk. Maybe him, Roethlisberger and Pacman Jones should start their own all-moron team.

Two out of three of those scumbags got their start playing for the titans.

    Coincidence?

Dan Snyder gave him his personal word that they will stay a 4-3 defense.

    Albert should stand his ground.

disagree. two wrongs don't make a right.

He can demand a trade, he can call Snyder out for the liar and loser he is in the press and what not, and that would be understandable (whiny, but understandable).

But dude signed a contract and needs to get his fat ass in to work like the rest of us.

    Period.

Is my credibility (or the credibility I imagined I had) now gone? Has starting this thread made me a pariah?

As I've watched this whole situation play out, I think the guy's a malcontent, a dog, and a bad teammate. That said, he'd be motivated in 2010, his guaranteed money is almost all paid up, and he'd be cheap cut should he not get his act together.

I think our defense with a motivated Fat Albert would be excellent. Assuming our offensive production doesn't have a dramatic dropoff (or more importantly, it become more efficient with a good run game), we could win a superbowl with a motivated, 2008 vintage Albert Haynesworth.

Like almost everyone in the thread, I understand that it ain't gonna happen.

completely reasonable take. I think a lot of people don't want to see pricks like Haynesworth wearing Houston colors, and I understand (and share) that sentiment. But one can't really argue that if keeps his nose clean and just plays he'd most certainly take this defense to never-before-seen heights.
