That's a fair point but i think there are a lot of teams doing that. There's talk of Dallas even having significant space for next year by letting Chandlier, Barea, and Butler walk if they don't accept a one year deal. You amnesty Haywood you have a ton of space. IMO it's not looking good for us next year if we don't acquire something this year.
Not sure if this would be deserving of its own thread but, http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpp/sports/nba/111205-chuck-hayes-wants-rockets'-offer-to-consider
I guess Morey wants to see if Chandler or Nene wants to join the Rockets, and clearly, hiring either of them will leave no salary space for the chuck wagon... exceeding the salary cap is also not an opinion for them since it will withdraw all the chances to trade for a superstar in the upcoming season. 1. Rox sign Chandler or Nene, resign Hayes, and amnesty Thabeet.(if they are all willing to be underpaid salary); 2. Rox sign Chandler or Nene, and not resign the Chuck wagon(Still, they possibly need to amnesty Williams or Thabeet to meet their salary expectation.) 3. Rox fail to sign Chandler nor Nene. Hayes is patient enough to wait for the Rox' offer. 4. Rox fail to sign Chandler nor Nene. Hayes is upset about how he is treated, and decide to take his talent elsewhere. Rox have no chance other than signing Dalembert...
I really don't understand why Miami isn't pursuing him. They'd be unstoppable with Chuck at center. And no - I'm not joking.
If the Rockets strike out in free agency this year they should give Chuck a "Nick Collison" type deal that is heavily front loaded; if an amnesty is needed to give him as much as possible this year, so be it. His worth ethic has always seemed strong enough, that finally getting 'paid' won't keep him from being the Chuckwagon.
Chuck has too much class. Lebron would spend the whole season being ashamed of himself if he had to compare himself to Chuck every day.
