Same here. I'm okay going the Dirk Nowitzki route. He's been loyal to this franchise and the franchise should be loyal as well.

"Harden wants to be a Rocket and retire as a Rocket is basically the information he is getting and they are fine with the players they have now while making some changes here and there. "

    That's my ****ing quarterback.

Maybe the Rockets won't win a title in the Harden era. It is hard. But if they don't, we can still have Harden retiring a Rocket and be one of the franchises best ever players (behind Hakeem).

Well Dirk routinely took paycuts for Dallas to be able to attain more players :/

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't he take that paycut at 36? Plus Mark Cuban compensated him for that at 38 years old with a $25 million 1 year deal. You really believe Tilman is going to compensate Jimmy down the line if he decided to take a paycut?

Yea Dirk wasn't Duncan in regards to really taking major pay cuts. He also wasn't Kobe in refusing to take any form of a pay cut.

The irony is the Rockets were in a pretty solid scenario to win a title until Harden forced the Westbrook trade and pretty much ended that possibility.

I agree that he is probably the #2 Rocket of all time and would love for him to retire here. But the championship possibility has sailed. I'm cool with him just being as fun to watch as possible going forward until his time runs out.

Fine. Let Harden decide if he wants to take a paycut when he's on the downward slope of his career and already has a quarter of a billion in the bank. You don't ask superstars in their prime to do **** like that. Hell, asking if he wouldn't mind re-signing on the cheap is exactly what eventually ran MDA off.

lmao, this is the most absurd trade rumor i've ever heard...

Westbrook traded back to OKC for CP3? then Harden for KAT + 1st pick? There's no way in hell this would happen.

KAT and D'lo wanted to play together, he went and asked management to get him and now he's being dealt? They have barely played any games together yet.

Duncan and Dirk were awesome to their organizations. I hope James gets one more max extension here, so an additional 3 years, bringing him to 36. Then I hope he gives us the sweetheart deal and Tilman makes sure he's always going to be treated like a king in his organization.

Yes, he took a 3 year/$25 million at 36 years old. Then Mark compensated him with a 1 year/$25 million at 38 years old. My point was that we can't expect for Harden to take a paycut at the prime of his career (which at this point his contract is guaranteed until he is 34 I believe). If he chooses to take a pay cut at 35, then fine although it will be unlikely we are contenders at that point. Honestly, I'll be a happy fan if Harden retires a Rocket, even if we don't win a championship.

the deal was never alive to begin with...Harden haters and mediocrity embracers held out hope, but this was stupid...it made no sense for anyone involved, especially for the Rockets

also, a team just swapping players that they traded a year ago...When has that ever happened? We trade CP3 and 4 picks for Russ, and then just trade Russ back for CP3 straight up. Lol, tf?

people really trying to talk themselves into a loser like KAT and the 1st pick in a weak draft being a good return for Harden

    Really?

James Harden ain't a b**** boy like LeBron or Kawhi or any of these other superstar players. He don't hop from team to team whenever the going gets tough. Props to him

I just don’t think we’ll be able to swing anyone that can make as big an impact in the WEST. It’s either keep him or rebuild.... maybe Morey’s gotta nite the bullet and dip into the draft. Ala golden state - style rebuild. This year was just a big asterisk IMO.
