In a dream world the Rockets would send Westbrook back for Paul. Reuniting Paul with Harden is the best chance for Houston to win.
At this point in his career CP3 is more of a chess player. He'll take it easy but still get you to the playoffs and then turn into Super PG.

You just reemphasized my points. He’s not going to win is a Championship and nobody is coming here in the next 2 or 3 years to help him win one. So why keep holding on to him? As of now you can still get top value for him but if you wait another 2 years? Good luck. I realize it’s hard to let go for many but sometimes you gotta think about the long game.

Without Beard, Rockets will be picking top 5 every draft.

I think it is worth 1 more reload.
James Harden has lead the league in win shares 5 of the last 6 years. He is a once in a generational talent, and if we trade him, essentially we are cashing in for assets to find another version of him.

Trading Westbrook for assets is not impossible. There is a way to move him and bring back picks (ie take on a bad contract). And it might be worth looking at how Harden would work under a different coach. Give it a year. If there isn't a path to a title from there, then I (sadly) agree that cashing him in is better long term.

D'Antoni will never ever win a championship. His methodology is odd. I said that when we hired him fwiw. Yeah, yeah,a hammy away, but he didn't win. Fullstop.
One more coach and maybe shake it up big time (ie move Westbrook Tucker and Gordonfor whatever we can get, then use assets and matching contact to.bring in someone for 2021/22)

I am ok with coming 6th next season if we have transformed the team and there is are future options

The way some people are talking about this rumor, it's like Houston initiated it and is just trying to get more value for Harden. That's not what he said at all.

The guy clearly states that Houston didn't initiate it, they aren't looking to trade Harden, and that they would have to get a much better offer to entertain the possibility (which is true of every player on every team in the league).

Houston is not shopping Harden. That's the opposite of what the guy in the Hawks forum said.

They called and gave Morey this offer in the same way Morey probably called the Bucks and offered Westbrook for Giannis. It probably garnered the same reaction too. Don't think about this rumour too hard it's not that deep.

Why would you let the face of the franchise go to essentially be in the same place.

How does trading him make us better.

    What is "top value" anyway.

Are you willing to suck as long as the Sixers and still can't get out of the 1st round?

Or be the Kings or any other mediocre team?

At least in 2 years we can tank.

This trade makes absolutely NO SENSE for any of the teams involved, whatsoever. Like none, AT ALL.

They abandoned their child. Every year when we want them. They don’t want us.

You know that old maxim that says, "If you get a chance to trade a bunch of lesser players and assets to acquire a superstar, you do it"?

Well, it works in reverse, too. Trading a superstar for picks and spare parts is insane.

Hey Batman Jones! Hope your health is better! Any chance we're trying to trade Tillman?

This is the same as Morey calling Cuban about Dirk 5 or 6 off seasons ago. Cuban took it as an insult Bc they had just been kicked out of the playoffs.

Morey will listen to offers and not be offended. You have to remember that Gerson is now with the Timberwolves. If this conversation even happened (which I doubt), then it was probably just two old friends having a VERY hypothetical conversation. Gerson probably wants to have an idea of what it would take to get Harden 2 seasons from now, not this off season. Gerson wants to be prepared to be involved in the trade when it happens even if he can’t land Harden for the Wolves. Front offices should always gauge their players value even if they aren’t planning on trading them. It’s just smart business to know the value of your assets.

The only way Morey trades Harden is if he requests a trade. Everything that Harden has done since arriving in Houston tells me that he isn’t going to request a trade for at least two seasons from now .
