Do it in a second and would try to dump Lin as well.

Beverley and Caanan's D and ability to drive and find the open man with Harden, Parsons, Smith and Howard on the floor would be a dynamic offense and still above average defensively in spite of Harden (who can improve)

I think Morey will told Smith.
If we sigm DH you will be a rocket
If we dont you will be a rocket

Just wait al the DH is clear to see if we must add you via S&T or direct if we dont get DH

That's the thing, Josh has the skillset and has shown that he can work out of the high post effectively using his passing ability as well as his quick first step against the bigger 4s of the league.

The only big issue I see is him taking himself out of his own element and trying to become a James Harden, Kobe Bryant, Steph Curry type player and taking mid range to 3 point jump shots.

Like I said I think the main thing for him is to get his state of mind on attacking and creating when given the opportunity.

I also disagree with you regarding nothing major changing offensively. Dwight has stated numerous times that he wants to be part of an offense that suits his talents and skillset. Even though an uptempo style is fun for the viewers and the wing players it's not what suits Dwight the best. I'm expecting a more balanced offense between the two.

All in all it's really just speculation on our part. We'll never really learn what the plan is unless/until Dwight signs and if we acquire Josh Smith as well. Until then, all we do is wait and debate.

    Last thing I'll add:

We ran the PnR on nearly every possession last year and Dwight is clearly at his best as the roll man in a PnR. It's a perfect fit. He wants more post-up opportunities which can be added with things like roll post-ups, swing passes, etc. But using him as the roll man makes too much sense and I'd imagine explaining how using him in that capacity would be addressed during the X's and O's portion of our presentation to him.

I remembered there was one other guy on here that watched the Hawks consistently. Funny, those who see him play every night are the ones most not interested in this happening...

Asik and Lins contract in a sign and trade for Josh Smith is about what it would take to work.

Hinkie wants Asik and is willing to take on Lin to get him.

Asik is going to Philly. Lin too but Hinkie could flip him.

    Josh Smith is a Rocket.

sounds like i'm in the minority, but I would really be sad to see Asik go. The guy has a favorable contract, is all heart and hustle, and still has upside to improve his game:

    1) top defender
    2) Top rebounder
    3) double-double machine
    4) great attitude
    5) all heart--no drama
    6) stepped up his game in the playoffs (remember his showdown with Perkins?)

I take him over Jsmoove and his high salary demands, poor jump shooting, any day. i think a lineup of :

    Lin
    Harden
    Dwight
    parsons
Asik (rotate with D12 and Jones/DMo)

is a potential championship team. i just hate to give up on good guys like Asik because the 'grass is greener' over there. I just don't buy it--but I guess I'm a nostalgic fan.

    No

Hinkie is paying back Morey for giving him his chance. Besides with Asik and Lin and the young talents they have is a real good team with potential.

Not a huge Josh Smith fan. He settles way too much for 3's and long 2's, and I cant figure out why. He's great near the basket and usually makes good things happen when he's there, but for whatever reason loves deep jump shots. For PF's like KG or Dirk, shooting long 2's makes sense, but it doesnt for Smith.

Plus, he's undersized which means once his athleticism slips ever so slightly (say, as a result of an injury of some sort), his game will deteriorate along with it. Compared to Asik, he will be overpaid and almost undoubtedly underperform, whereas Asik overperforms and in my mind can be a great complement to DH.

Don't think we need to get rid of Lin if we do a S&T with Asik.

He must mean absorbing his contract or trading for a trade exception. Asik still has 3 years on his deal, he can't be signed outright.

Been discussed before in the other Josh Smith "meeting with Rockets" thread.

Basically no they dont have to if Josh Smith's salary is within a certain amount.

However, it seems likely that if they do pursue a Josh Smith S&T with Asik, they Rockets will still probably have to add other pieces in the deal... maybe just a rookie like Jones, but possibly Lin. They are just going to have to go back and forth with Ferry(Hawks), and Smiths agent to get the deal done.
