Agreed. I will always have a soft spot for Woody because of his playing days at IU, but the fact is he did just well enough to avoid being fired. If he doesn't get another head coaching job in the NBA, he will be one of the few with that distinction.
I have a feeling he might get Avery Johnson-ed. Different situations I realize, but with the way both coaches lost their locker rooms and had underachieving teams toward the final stages of their stints with their lone teams, part of me feels Woody might get that "Mmmm k, this guy wins. Why doesn't he have a job?" treatment that Avery got. Basically, the kind of deal where their success with a single team, for whatever reason, is seemingly not taken as seriously as it perhaps should be. It should be interesting to see how Mike Brown's situation plays out too and how long it takes him to get another job if the Cavs dump him.
