i think joe johnson is a very good player who is a great #2 option on a team but i can't blame anyone for not wanting to give him max money considering you already have all of your best players playing the same 2 positions. this is nothing against joe, but the hawks won't be any better next year because they are such a poorly built team. you can't have all your best players playing the same 2 positions.

Good move for the Hawks. Who else was going to come there to take the money? Anyone? With that said, they have to give the money to SOMEONE. Why not a young and promising 24 year old that can play 3 positions? Maybe he wont pan out and be an allstar, but give them credit for TRYING.

Keep in mind JJ is the ONLY huge contract on their books. They still are WAY under the cap. So anyone upset for overpaying JJ and worrying about their cap is ridiculous.

The Hawks are a bad team with no identity. They have to TRY to move away from that. They can do that now with Joe Johnson, Josh Smith and Marvin Williams. Since the Wilkins days, Hawks fans finally have something to cheer about.
