    I liked and respected David Bowie but I don't think any musician's passing struck and affected me more than Ronnie James Dio.

    Lou Reed is right up there too in terms of rock influence. But he wasn't the showman that Bowie was (and probably had no interest in that anyway).

    if i am reading this correctly bowie only had two #1's and six top 10 hits in the billboard charts? thats insane! he is one of those artists who could put on a three hour concert and even the casual fan could sing along to most of it...the number of great tunes he has stacks up to most anyone else. america never quite got him the same way england and europe did, which i think you can see with some of the responses in this thread.
