Pigs are smart too. In France they train pigs to find underground mushrooms. So you won't like a big fat pork chop on your table? Animals' bond with humans is overrated. Pig lovers have pigs as pets, they eat pigs. Fish lovers can have a 100 gallon tank and still eat fish. So why make an exception with dogs? Because they bond with humans? Guess what, to say that dogs bond with humans are just false. Dogs don't bond with humans in general, they only bond with their masters. Dogs are hostile to strangers. So in fact, a dog is hostile towards 6 billions human and is only friendly with his master. Eating dogs need no justification, it's not like dog eaters commonly eat their own dog.
Had dog meat a couple of months ago, for novelty more than anything else. It was okay, but no reason to try it again. To the person who said it tasted like chicken, I disagree. It's closer to the red meats, but fairly lean. While I can see why the hatred towards dog-eaters, I do believe it's a bunch of BS. The dogs served in restaurants are bred for the purpose of being slaughtered and eaten. The same way pigs and cows are bred for the sole purpose of being slaughtered and eaten. There's a difference between a pet and an animal bred for food. I would never, ever eat any of my friends pets, dog or otherwise. The very idea would disgust me to no end. But even as I sometimes help a friend feed his birds and fishes when he's out of town, I can go eat sushi and be damn happy.
I have eaten "beef" in China, so there is a possibility that I have eaten dog meat. But if I knew it was dog meat, then no way. If it were a matter of survival and it was my only choice, then the answer is yes, of course. A better question would be and perhaps we need a new poll. If you were lost, stranded in the wilderness, starving, and about to die, would you eat a penis in order to survive?

My uncle has great dog meat recipe. It's actually like beef-stew but the best part is the skin, just blowtorch the skin of the dog to get rid of the hair then skin it with a knife, dip it to vinegar with chili, YUM!!!
People keep pot bellied pigs as pets, I have never found "pot bellied" pig at the store. Truffle hogs, if I remember correctly, aren't trained. They are looking for the truffles because they want to eat them. You just let them find the truffles and then dig them up before the hog eats them. And are you really trying to say that dogs are more often than not, "hostile" to strangers? What kind of expieriences have you had with dogs?
For those of you who would rather starve than eat dog I suggest you read about the Donner Party or Alive. You would be surprised what even "civilized" people will eat when they're facing starvation. I wouldn't seek out dog meat but if I was starving I probably would. I'm presuming if Fido is starving and I happen to kick the bucket he would probably eat me. I have not knowingly ever eaten dog meat but I've travelled through rural Asia and eaten at some places in Hong Kong that had exotic meat so who knows.
Would I eat dog meat? I would, but only in an extreme condition. I have no need to eat dog meat because there are som many other meats out there. Some people consider dogs as equals...I don't understand it or agree with it. In an extreme situation, I would eat what I could find, and if it came down to dog meat, I fell pretty confident in saying I wouldn't be tranautized by eating it. Hell, I would just cross myfence and have min pin buffet.
