I have Xfinity because its the only thing available besides Dish Network which screwed me out of 900 dollars. Never sign up for auto payments. We have had our issues here and there with Comcast. The guy who installed did a terrible job and we had to have it redone. For a while they didn't have NFL Redzone in HD which pissed me off, but they ended up getting it on my box by week 2.

At&t uverse is great, I miss it. Xfinity has made strides, but their customer support is absolute crap compared to Uverse.

Like the CSN setup so far, looks pretty fresh.

I placed an order for both Comcast and AT&T. Comcast offers 30 days money back warranty and AT&T offers 200 bucks gift card after 30 days of use. If I decide to drop Comcast in case AT&T picks up CSN in one month I can still have Comcast for one month for free. I can even make some "money" if I have to drop AT&T if it picks up CSN. Win-wins. I will not miss a single rockets game and it will not add any "extra" cost.

CSN is trully fantastic! I never had such a fuzzy feeling towards a sports network, and even the ads are tastefully done:grin:

Here's a potentially stupid question: If I use some high quality HD antenna, will I be able to pick up CSN Houston?

Same here in the Austin area. I assume Rockets games would just get blacked out any way (Spurs territorial rights). But I don't want to lose the Astros, too.

just how stupid Comcast is. They offer a rate for 12 months but you have to sign a 24 months contract.

    FK U COMCAST.

Pretty much every TV provider is the same way, bait and switch. They are not stupid, they are sneaky. Just calculate yourself an average monthly payment rate, or just add 10 bucks a month to get it without a contract.

No, just ask what the rate will be after the introductory rate ends and make your decision as if the higher rate was going to be in effect the entire time.

Pretty much everyone does that now. You get the discounted rate and then you have to pay to get out of it after the 12 month period ends, because they really start to pillage your pocketbook from months 13-24.

It's your duty as a consumer to be informed about what you are buying. The information is available. If you fail to educate yourself about a purchase, well you have nobody to blame but yourself.

I was going to drop Comcast, but now I will wait till someone else pick up CSN. I was with Time Warner when it became Comcast. Was happier with Time Warner.
Every year I have to haggle with Comcast over the monthly rate, seem to be loosing out slowly but steadily They are gaining on me like a virus. They are went up again the first of the month on all the equipment and packages.

If I get a link where I can reliable stream it online I will cut Comcast in a heart beat. I have a good outdoor HD antenna setup, but it cuts out a lot of sports and my wife's HGTV channel, and I like living to much to cut that HGTV
out without being able to stream it.

I guess we are talking about a TV provider with a term. You can think your way, but the amount of money you ACTUALLY are going to pay is average monthly payment X month of term.

I agree. I just think TV providers should tell their customers up front in the most visible place the total money they should pay. They always make it look cheaper than it really is, aka promotional rates. Well that's called ads, you have to dig the real prices yourself in the fine print. So never respect their ads which is only a way of sales. Nobody is going to pay the regular prices from scratch and the companies know that.

And all kind of taxes nobody really understands:rolleyes:

that's a stupid bait. and only a stupid consumer will bite it if savings is the primary reason for switching.

my uverse rate is still cheaper tahn comcast. and i get free hbo and showtime for 6 months.

Yes, you're correct. You won't get Rockets games.
I have league pass in Austin with TWC. I'm just doing the monthly installment option so I can watch the Rockets.

Or, get league pass broadband and hook up your computer to your TV via HDMI and watch the games that way.

No, Comcast has no "term". Once the introductory discount period ends, your rates will go up to the "normal" rates. Which will last until they decide to increase those rates and charges, which they will do early and often starting soon after your introductory period expires.

If there is one are where Comcast has distinguished itself over the last 10 years, it is on having the highest rates in the Greater Houston area, hands down, far and away, nobody else even close.
