It happened to my mom. Her front door was kicked in, very easily. The alarm went off. They ran away at first, but came back and disabled the alarm, then continued to rob her house. The police didn't show up for 3 hours.

My mother ran into a closet to hide when the alarm went off. She was just very lucky they didn't find or look for her, otherwise I'd probably be talking about her in past tense.

Breaking into a home? Bad idea... Breaking into a TEXAS home?? Might as well write a eulogy.

If you seriously think you need that kind of fire power, I'm not surprised it's on a kid's bunk bed, with all due respect. (and I'm a gun owner)

Some ********** decided it would be fun to break into my detached garage and steal all of my yard equipment and break into my truck and steal my radar detector about a month ago. It's ok though because I've got something for their ass next time. She's going to be a wonderful deterrent in not too long.

that's crazy. next time, tell her to tell the cops, there's a robbery IN PROGRESS otherwise they wouldn't show up until forever.

No, his guns have their own room and their own bed. Where else are they going to sleep?

yes, I also make my other kid sleep on the fake grass felt on the bottom bunk, and force them to pray in front of the Nazi posters on the wall.

obviously this is NOT my collection. I do however own....

an SKS, an AR-15, a Mossburg 12 ga. a Glock 26(wifes gun), a 357 my dad gave me, and an old hunting rifle uhh .243 I believe.

My oldest daughter(14) has shot most of these guns, and I have no shame in it at all. Even if some scumbag tries to get into my house while I'm not home, my wife and daughter will know how to defend themselves.

;) Even if you get familiar with the neighborhood, it could happen...I'm sure you have an alarm, but if you don't, it wouldn't be a bad idea...>That and a dog and not sure where you stand, but a handgun...I hear Jeff is selling them...

    LL, are you nazi?

Definitely get a dog. I have a large one that stays in the house a lot of the time and throws a fit when someone comes to the door or into the yard. Very effective and he means it, although he's selective, thank goodness. Most "bad guys" trying to knock over a pad are just going to move on rather than deal with a dog, IMO. Sure, have other measures to take, but a good dog should be high on the list for home protection.
