taller and just as much mass as Dwight... crazy. although Dwight is just plain cut like a mofo so he looks stronger.

reports are that Bynum wants $88million. lotta money for a month and a half of solid experience in the nba.

meh. all that extra upper body bulk, regardless if it's muscle, will only put more stress on his left knee.

I think this is a three team race this year. Lakers, celtics, rockets.

the guy had nothing to do but lift since jan of this year. he does look huge though

of course its being able to keep that muscle mass the entire year...i remember there was a season when yao came in pretty big but by the end of the year came down since he couldnt keep up with the weight training. happens to a lot of players of course he will only get bigger like the way shaq did.

good to see more competition for yao it will only make him better.

the lakers will be interesting to watch this year and how they put it all together. i'm not sold on bynum yet but he does look promising if you are a lakers fan

Meh, you don't have to be built like a linebacker to be strong in the NBA. Hakeem was considered one of the strongest players in the NBA in his time and he had a more streamlined upper body. Cardiovascular and endurance is more important in the NBA anyways.

Considering he fell on his knee hard during summer and didn't feel any pain, and he added an inch on his vertical from a year ago, I'm a Laker fan and I'm not worrying. :)

Sounds like some of you guys are ready to start a circle jerk in here over Bynum.

    Yao will own him.

don't get me wrong i am definitely impressed about bynum's muscle development. but it gets me wondering, how it's going to affect his mobility especially after coming off the knee surgery. being heavier is never good for the knees, partly the reason why yao has cut weight to put less stress on his feet.

Lakers/Houston have been playing ridiculously exciting games for the past few years. Now it will only get better.

    Time for a bold prediction.

Bynum will surpass Dwight Howard this season.

I say that because Bynum built his game from the ground up. He had fundamentals drilled into him by Kareem before he ever really found the weight room. Whenever I see Dwight play it looks like he took the reverse approach and he still doesn't have a versatile post game. Bynum already had the upperhand in skills and now he's caught up with him physically. The only proven roadblock left is Yao.

    We'll see soon enough :D

    bynum looks really huge now.

oden, bynum, dwight; some good young centers that are only going to get better. (though oden is kind of a question mark still)

this should be yao's year though; he'll be dominant for a couple more years.

    That's bold indeed.

I wouldn't be completely shocked if this happened, but I would first wait to see how he reacts to a full 82 game season. If healthy, he clearly has the potential to being better than Dwight. But most likely not this year.

It'll be fun to watch all this young talent grow this season.
