Green has played enough to form a pattern we all can see. Shepperd has not played enough to give us a real sense of pattern.

Jalen is obviously more physically talented than Reed from the very start. But is/was he more skilled? I don't think so. I did not totally give up on Jalen until the middle of his fourth season. I figured if he hadn't known how to improve himself to a higher level, he never would. I'd give Reed at least one more season.

Also, don't forget that Jalen came into the league when we were tanking hard with a coach that didn't demand accountability. And the team was devoid of real talent. It's not surprising that he got a very long leash. Reed came into a very different situation.

Reed also has a far worse offensive coach than Jalen had to start their careers

Jalen's unique skill was his speed and his first step which he could not use every time.

Sheppard plays very controlled but not fast.

He is actually even worse than I expected. Apparently you can hide him against poorly coached teams like the pistons but the thunder abused him every minute he was on the court

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love Derrick White on the Rockets, he fits what we need. But that contract is crazy. If we’re talking more realistic options, I wouldn’t mind bringing in a guy like Dennis Schröder.

If the Kings implode and have a fire sale, sign me up.

That doesn't hold up as well when you bear in mind Ime's got no problem benching anybody. He still played Jalen a HELL of a lot more than Reed. I'm not even sure he cared whether Reed was on the roster last season, which says a lot about how much "potential" he really showed in practise when we weren't considered contenders yet either, and now we are.

Wait, you mean that's all I had to do to avoid your banal, childish insulting r****ded ass from quoting me unnecessarily? You could have told me sooner, you've just made my weekend thanks so much!

it is always interesting to seeing the differing opinions. I’ve been on this board. The majority of my life and I have been right and I have been wrong.

I was drinking and smoking a little bit of the Mary Jane last night during the game, but I actually thought that we looked very good offensively.

he generated decent looks inside and he missed those. But in limited game time over the last 1.1 years, he is actually shown a propensity to be able to hit those. I think they will fall eventually.

also a couple times where he got into the teeth of the defense and made the right pass. Interestingly, he made the correct pass about half of a second too late, but I’m pretty sure that in a year or so from now he will be making the correct pass faster then the average point guard. And obviously it was nice to hit all of his three-pointers. I feel pretty confident that at his floor he will be a great shooter.

I would like to let him start in lieu of Adams. I get that big Stevo generates us a few extra possessions, but takes away from our ability to be offensively versatile.

Reed, Durant, Amen and Sengun can all initiate offense in different manners. Double big is undoubtedly effective, but I just want it to be used in spurts.

I will say that I think that the BBS has become hard to read at times. We’ve played two games and some of these reactions are just crazy.

Udoka may have a reason for starting the two bags right now with zero intention of continuing in the future. And none of this really matters because come December 16 we can make a move for almost any player we want.

How many minutes would you say is enough to make a final judgement on a young player? Josh Christopher played over 3 times the minutes reed has, jalen over 12 times before those 2 were given up on.

Reed was clearly not good at the beginning of last season when Ime gave him decent minutes and he got pulled from the rotation. Jalen as much as he is flawed, he is aggressive enough to give you points, albeit inefficiently.

Bottom line, I wasn't worried when Jalen was inconsistent during his first two seasons. I think we should give Reed at least that much time.

Also, if Ime didn't think Reed was worth the trouble, why would they put all their eggs on him being the backup guard behind FVV and Amen?

It's been 2 games.. I'm not giving up on Reed until we're 25 games in and he's still exactly the same.

    I'll say it...

I do not believe that Reed Sheppard will ever be a starting caliber player in the NBA.... he may eek out a career as a Steve Kerr type role player, but he just does not have enough skills to outweigh his negatives... like when he actually gets by his defender and then blows the layup - wtf... Finishing those shots for a player that is Reed's size should be an automatic - like a 7 footer being able to dunk...

The only role he could play is point - and he doesnt have the skills for it...

His top priority should be learning how to draw a charging foul... getting the footwork down to slide into position and sacrificing his body for the call... otherwise the dude just gets blown by all day...

Hopefully he and Tari and some filler can get us a serviceable pg at the deadline... otherwise I'd severely limit his minutes before we totally kill any potential trade value he may have...

Reed is the new Jalen Green from +/- perspective

They didn't put all their eggs on him though, if they did he'd be starting. He's not, because they don't see him as important enough even when there's literally nobody to stand ahead of him on the depth chart.

I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt at least 20-25 games into the year. However I’m willing to admit that we clearly should’ve taken Castle over him, even if Reed does turn it around I can’t imagine him ever being a better

Not really, just feel like more min for okogie or tari would help the team more.

Jesus, he just turned 21 over the summer and he's getting his first meaningful NBA minutes.
