Does the house come with horses? If so, what are their names?

I'm pretty bad with the numbers. Two years ago I owed 7000, then last year I got back 5000, and this year I got back 12000 in state and federal taxes.

If you're getting back $12000, then, unless there was some real unusual occurrence, you have way too much being withheld.

I used free version of TaxAct which is web-based. Very easy. I got back $750. That's about $250 more than normal.

I mis estimated based on a half year's mortgage payments. Doh.

I got back about $370 in the tax return this year. This past year was the first full year I worked at a job. I put that money straight in the bank and spent a little bit of it.

I did them myself since I'm a CPA, and I'm getting back around $900 (legally).

With that being said, I bought tickets to all of the Rockets playoff games. I know what $$$ is meant for. :D

My wife and I are getting a decent chunk back this year. Last year we owed slightly more than we are getting this year. I would love to spend it on a HDTV, among other things, but I think we are going to put it toward are house savings. Hopefully by Feb. I can become a home owner. If owning a home is as good at tax time as you guys say it is, then perhaps next year we will get that HDTV.

Owning a house is good, but put off that HDTV for a few years... you've initially got to invest in all kinds of junk from curtains to lawnmowers.

Seriously, just put a stamp on an envelope and address it to "internal revenue service" It all will go to the IRS. It will get entered. You will do this again next year.

Not necessarily, that is what I am getting back but I am offsetting this years earnings with some losses that my company had 2 years ago which allowed me to get it back.

3 years ago, I paid $26,000 in taxes, then the next year, I offset that with a loss and got $27,000 back...this year only 12k back.

    :)
