The only overnights are for my children being born. Both were covered by Medicaid. I abstained from voting, since I'm not sure how to vote, or if you want it included since it is not a private health plan.
was hospitalized... half of my hospital stay was overseas though in Bagram and Landshstul, then went to Bethesda Naval hospital... all 100% covered.
don't you have insurance company info that would tell you this? (I thought you were involved in insurance -- I could be wrong). I'm still puzzled at what you're learning here. An overnight 'observation' for a kid is quite different then an overnight triple bypass with a subsequent week long stay. And the family with no overnights might have several single day admittances. Especially with young active kids. I would have thought 2+ visits for a family over 10 yrs would be fairly common?
I do have insurance licenses but I haven't been involved in medical insurance for years. I ran up against a character limit in writing out the poll question. I had hoped that people would "somehow" know what I was after. I'm not looking for trivial hospitalizations (if there is such a thing); I'm looking for the serious ones that plunder the deductible limit. My recollection from years ago was that it was a single-digit percentage of policyholders that ever exceed their deductibles and that was a time when deductibles were much smaller. The data above seems to contradict that... which is why it is interesting.
Wife been in twice about 8 years ago, once a heart attack(genetic disposition towards plaque buildup) and two days after getting out with a faulty stint they had installed.(we still got charged) I had been in prior to her problem with a bad gall bladder. then in May for aortic dissection, and again a month ago with an arrhythmia. If I had any insurance, it's deductible would have been blown away on both the years these events happened. thankfully the kids havent had any major problems.
