The basketball purist in me would like to see a high post with some cutters or somebody on the block from time to time, simply so we can make defenders be honest. I hope we're not too stubborn about a style of play that we overlook what generations of players have taught us about this game.

But that said, we should look at the numbers.

Against the Spurs, we generated 39 uncontested shots last night. That's probably a record for us as they simply play great defense and don't give up open looks. For the game, we had 39 and made 20.

Trevor, who has been slumping, made 3 of 8
Gordon was 2 of 6 (and no points in the 4 Q)
Decker, who has been slumping, was 0 of 3 on uncontested looks

To beat the Spurs, these three guys have to make open shots.

On contested shots, we were a respectable 64 of 83 (46%). What really stands out here is that Lou Williams was 0 for 8 on contested looks (and no points in the 4 Q). Something tells me that he'll give us a lot more than that.

So does this offensive system work? Yes. We went toe-to-toe with a premier team, who had a decided height advantage, on the road. And we dictated how the game was going to be played.

To be honest, I'd try to figure out how to keep Tony Parker from pouring in 11 points in the 3 Q than questioning our offensive philosophy. We're actually built to contend as a small team, and we can't let another team's point guard have that kind of success.

No one can guard Kawhi and few of our teammates can even stay in front of Aldridge or Gasol, but Tony Parker? We should be able to challenge him and match up.

Didn't Gordon hit the tying 3pter in the 4th to make it 107 all?

Good enough for the regular season. Good enough for the playoffs? We will see. I bet it all goes to hell.

    This.

Considering our roster, we are successful thanks to the style of basketball we are playing. It's all fine to talk about how Les had envisioned how basketball should be played and we are following his master plan. The truth is that they went out trying to sign Horford, Milsap, Bogut and Howard had left us.
With this roster, we have to be explosive and shoot a lot of threes. Now, the defense certainly should be improved and we don't need those mindless turn overs (BTW, some of those TOs Harden had Nash also had). It's still a work in progress. I think it will work and we just have to be patient with it.

I believe we can stretch it out a bit more. Our tempo is way to slow.
Speed the game up and increase our shots(3pts).

I seriously hope we play the Warriors at some point in the playoffs. We are going to AVERAGE 50+ 3s a game in that series. Win or Lose.

I can't wait to see the threads after we do that...

DD you're right. I read the notes wrong. Eric Gordon was 3 of 6 in the 4th (a made layup off a missed 3, and two uncontested threes).

Overall that made him 4 of 10, and he did make the shot you mentioned.

But for the game, he was 2 of 4 on contested shots and 2 of 6 uncontested.

I hope when left totally open that he would make more shots than that.

I would prefer more variety, but this style of play has us 3rd in the West right now when this roster really shouldn't be anywhere near there. We almost had a 3 game winning streak playing against the Clippers, Grizzlies, and Spurs. We controlled most of the game last night, we should've won. The Rockets have 1 of the most prolific offenses in NBA history. Every game we get a ton of wide open looks that guys just aren't knocking down. Our offense has the potential to match Golden States', and they have 4 all stars while we have Harden a bunch of role players.

Not at all. Do you think a midrange shot would have won the game last nite?
    Against the Pacers?

No. The fines for mid range jumpers shall continue until they are eliminated from the offense.

We must continue the process until we hit the ceiling of the roof.

heck in a game like last night I wouldn't mind seeing something "radical" like Montrezz on Parker or Leonard for a minute or two just to see if his length could make an impact on the Defensive end...just to kill the cycle when parker is on a roll like shooting freaking 3's with no one gaurding him jeez

I agree wholeheartedly! I believe we are a 1 trick pony team - the 3 ball - period.

"We are clearly lacking defensive minded players, hustle players, size and rebounding." ...yep, and Trez can't even get on the freakin court! wtf is that?

I'm getting increasingly pissed for the ongoing lack of balance on this team under Morey.

If you think we need shooters... great... but does that mean we can't have and utilize a banger down low? Change of pace runningback?

No. We shoot 3 balls - that's pretty much it. it doesn't matter how effective CC is on the PnR - we're not going to utilize it consistently...

Just because you want a good offense... doesn't mean you need to totally blow-off defense....

    BALANCE!

    No.

We've taken the Only One Playmaker On The Floor At A Time philosophy too far.

We need multiple playmakers on the floor to make our offense multi-dimensional.
