my whole argument is not getting Kevin Martin or not...
imo in the ideal situation we would have gotten KevMart already... Then pulled Amare without question.
our team would be leaps and bounds better than it is now.

dude, stop making up situations and enjoy the ride of the current one.

we need to stop this "woulda, coulda, shoulda" atmosphere.

This trade was never about having all the pieces set immediately. The team filled the perimeter scorer need, but still has the need for more size in the middle. But it's OK that this team is in a incomplete state for now. The trade is still a good one becuase the Rockets picked up valuable pieces that won't show up in the rotation this year (i.e. picks, Jordan Hill) but can be used either on court or in a trade to fulfill that need for more interior size.

Even if Yao comes back healthy, I'd say this team is a solid fourth seed that will make it to the second round but is a longshot to go further. But they have a lot of young assets and draft picks which they can use to upgrade the team into a true contender.

I wasn't talking about how good Yao is. I understand fully well how good a healthy Yao is. What I'm talking about is the fact that this team still has the same problems it had when we had the Tmac-Yao duo. Forgive me if I'm not as quick to judge to say that just because Yao's team last year brought the Lakers to game 7, they are suddenly title contenders.

Bringing in Kevin Martin is a good start in adding a scoring wing, but let's be realistic about our expectations at the present time.

What problems? The Tmac-Yao teams had problems scoring outside of Tmac-Yao. This team doesn't have the same problems, defense was a staple of those teams...defense is nonexistant sometimes this year.

Well it's only fair. It's just a lot of people forget that Yao is nearly unstoppable. The only thing that killed us last season was when teams front Yao. It became...turnover...turnover...contested 3....turnover...24 second shot clock...

All I said was IF Kevin Martin makes team pay for fronting Yao, this team is a contender. It's just a prediction, just like any other. Because the truth is, if you can't front Yao you have NO SHOT at stopping him, not even Dwight could stop him playing behind him. Not Perkins, not any center stopped Yao from scoring once he had the ball and his back to the basket.

That is a HUGE asset. Just as large as having a guy like Kobe, Paul, Lebron, Melo or any player that can get what they want on offense. Like I said though, Yao would get fronted and it would force others to step up.

I believe Martin will solve this problem, because he's a better off ball player than Tracy and he can make teams pay for fronting Yao.

imo it would have been a significant plus turning Battier and Scola into Stat. I didn't present all of the facts at the beginning and I have failed this thread.

    Sorry DP

imo it would have been a significant plus turning Battier and Scola into Stat without giving up our young assets and only losing Landry to get Martin.

I didn't present all of the facts at the beginning and I have failed this thread. The beginning threw everyone off Lo siento.

So what happens when Stoudamire decides he doesn't want to be a part of a sign and trade. Instead he wants to just go play in New York where he can play with another star? Then what are we left with?

That is fine if he decides to leave we would have significant cap space to sign another all star caliber player seeing that Battier would have been traded.

David Aldridge also was about to mention this exact trade before the Deadline trade passed on NBA TV.

According to media reports, the Stoudemire trade didn't happen because either Phoenix wanted more than Battier and Scola (probably some of the younger players) or Morey refused to waive Stoudemire's physical.

Either way, I'm fine with Morey's decision.

ic Battier + Scola seemed too good to be true but b/c Kerr could risk getting nothing it made sense in my mind at the time.
True, this was the less riskier move. I'm going to miss Landry shat.

The point is that tracy could and WOULD have helped this current team if he was given the chance...aside from the bad % kmart had a pretty good game, but if it were tracy doing that the GARM would have 12 threads about how tracy sucks. Its gonna take time for kmart to adjust to our team, chemistry doesnt happen with one game, he IS a good player, he just had a very bad shooting night. But based on his debut w/NY, if you say that tracy would not have helped this team (WITH LANDRY) than you dont know basketball and your blinded by feelings (like a woman)...the moral of this story....
stop actin like women on this board. period.

I understand being a fan, just don't be stupid...give kmart a chance, im sure hell be fine...but then again, y'all didn't give tracy one...men are supposed to be more logical/rational CF.

**waits for someone to prove my point by catching feelings over what i just typed on the internet**

No, the Rockets' heart have not been ripped out.

We're not that feeble dude. It's the first game and DM did an awesome job of getting value back for MerGady.

I don't know if it's because some of us are really young or just love to make quick judgments, but patience really go a long way. This move was supposed come to fruition for next season. Please at least wait until we have a few games under next season. That is where Morey's goal is. He is setting us up for next season and beyond.

Besides Morey's not even done yet, we still have the off season to make additional moves.

Believe me, Morey's going to bring Bosh to Houston, and this team is going to be a legitimate contender next season... with or without a 100% Yao.

It's my fault because I quit watching the game online at halftime-- put it on cruise control and went to bed instead... ;)

That could be the hold up at the deadline for Amare. I dont like the idea of Brooks, Martin and Amare on the floor together. There would be no defense.
