Falcon's Talon, on behalf of the rest of the registered posters who have to work 12 months a year, let me say this. Bite me!
I thought I was getting three months of vacation. But I agreed to teach summer school (6 weeks) and do research for the money, as well as one week of a kids' science camp. So: May Break (3 weeks): 1 week on "vacation" (being exhausted the whole time), 1 week with family here, 1 week (this week) trying to rest and get ready for classes. Summer Term - 6 weeks, though I get three-day weekends and will use some of them for something interesting. July break: 2 weeks off; my major vacation will probably have to fit in here somewhere, but I also have to get ready for... Last week of July: summer science camp By then - guess what, less than two weeks until in-service for the fall semester! We don't get a whole lot of August off. Will probably use this to make my trip "home" for the summer, though it won't be a very long one. What summer vacation?!?
I just finished grading my final!!! What sucks is that I am both a teacher and support staff. I get all the work of teaching but no summer vacation . . . same pay too . . . but that's okay, the whole world is fine because I DON'T HAVE TO GRADE AGAIN THIS YEAR!!! WOOHOOO!!!
i'm a lazy college student who didn't try very hard to get a job and thus doesn't have one so i get the whole summer off to play GTA Vice City and do nothing. although there is a small possibility my sister will deliver papers for the chronicle from 2-5 in the morning and i may help throw them out of the car (i'm usually up then anyway) while splitting the money. of course that's practically no money but scholarships pay me and i'd just do it so my dad will stop bugging me to do something. other than that, hopefully i'll get off my ass and run and workout to actually get in shape for once since i have all day to do it. after next year though, i graduate, and then i actually have to have a job so i can have a little thing called money since scholarships usually stop paying you once you're not in school. they're picky like that.
