Wasn't the junction in Huntsville a restaurant way back then...Good time as a kid living there. Route 401 Ranch Rd., or something like that, lived in a Hacienda looking house - very nice!
Yup, it's definitely nearing Halloween Watch at your own risk. You've been warned:grin: Spoiler <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/QfZItov1BUo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
George Russell?? You lived in one of his places too? I lived in two different houses of his, both on L 1/2. The Slum Lord of Huntsville. LOL. mc mark, what about that old house off of Lake Rd? Big white abandoned mansion in the middle of nowhere. We used to go and walk around it at night. Pretty scary.
not only did I live in Russellville, I worked for George from '95-'98. Got to know the Russell family well. Have you seen any of his video's on youtube..crazy stuff. He's been funding a lot of B or heck more like C or D grade horror films in the last 10yrs too. I shot some footage in that white house on Lake Road - it was bought and restored around late 98 or early '99. There was also a big white 2 story house on 19th street that used to be a brothel...heard it was haunted too.
That's funny, we used to live in his house on the corner of 19th and L 1/2. We used to throw parties on the roof every night. We were horrible tenants... He walked in without knocking one Sunday morning (just like Dean Wormer in Animal House) and told us he was moving us down the street so he could use that house for storage. Probably for all his videos. I'll have to check them out. Interesting about that Lake Rd house. It was a beautiful house. I'm glad someone restored it instead of tearing it down and putting up more apartments...
check out the link in the post above yours - lots of info on that area. there was a similar thread a few months ago - check it out... http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=204407 here is what i said there... i didnt link them up initially, but what is really creepy is that there was a girl in my high school who got accidentally shot in the face at a party and the kids who did it took her body and dumped it in those woods - did some evil force draw them to that spot to leave the dead girl as some kind of "offering"? also, ive had some more odd things happen to me at garrison park in austin. as i said in the previous thread, i had saw a very strange dude out there last halloween and even told my friends about it that night - this was before i was aware that the park was allegedly haunted. i tend to walk my dog at dusk and sometimes i am the only one in the entire park, which can be creepy. i will go over to the graves and start talking aloud asking if anyone is there. about a month ago after i did this i started walking down the trail and these birds directly over my head started chirping very noisily - it was very high pitched and not at all like the kind of bird sounds you normally hear - they were almost musical. and they were all directly over me as i was walking down the trail. i was equally creeped out and amused.
hmm..the yellow house or the blue house beside it? had friends in both of those houses in the early to mid 90's. The house across from the yellow house (right beside the restaurant) was the house I referred to earlier that was supposedly haunted (at least thats what George's Assistant Debbie Henke told me)
Can't remember the color, but it was right on the corner. Don't remember a restaurant, but we were right across the street from the duck pond. Then he moved us down down the street to a house that happened to be right next door to a math professor. That was a big mistake.
Sorry, forgot to post the update. Well, it was pretty uneventful. The drive out was a little creepy, as the place was five miles down a one lane dirt road that cuts through old forest. We got there right at sundown. Honestly, I never really felt creepers out. I got about seven minutes of audio recording (set the recorder down on a big cross in the middle of the place, and on another tombstone), but didn't really hear anything. I will have to listen again. If I hear something, I'll really be freaked out. Unfortunately, we brought disposable cameras. We took like 54 pictures, but when they were developed only two turned out (ironically, they were of the same tombstone, it just said MOTHER). As they were at the end of the roll, I think the film was just exposed on development. A friend of mine took a few pictures on his iPhone. After a few he would say, "okay guys, last chance to make an appearance!", and it seemed like every time he said that, his picture was hazy. The other pictures he took were fine. The only other strange thing that happened was that when the girls got back into the car the dash lights were on. This was before the keys were even out of their pocket. Apparent, not normal, but I did not witness it. I did hear a few odd sounding revs of the engine that they say they did not do. The drive home down the dirt road was extremely dark, even with high beams on, and we almost hit a deer. Overall, I was unimpressed.
Yeah you're thinking of the Pike House. It was on a beautiful sprawling lot, in the middle of a nice, quiet neighborhood, and I'm not sure if it was haunted or not, but it sure looked the part. A massive, overgrown lawn met a crumbling facade of cracked brick and decayed siding affront a manor-like edifice with a pitch-black, abandoned and gutted wood-framed interior with broken glass and rusty metal construction parts littered everywhere on the plank floor upstairs, and on the cement on the lower floor. It's more than a shame it was burned because this thing had a look straight out of Amityville, and being located in the context of wealthy, residential safety greatly augmented its aura. I went there as a sophomore in 2006 with my roommates and four girls. Nine total. Inside, I couldn't see two inches in front of my face. Spooky feeling, and I kept an iron pipe tightly gripped, but no paranormal activity greeted us, at least not that I noticed. Honestly I was more focused on the girls than the house or ghosts. I really regret this now that it is gone. It was one of a kind. Also in San Marcos, Sanctuary Lofts apartments on North St. (formerly First Baptist Church SM) is "haunted." I lived there for two years, by myself, in the renovated former chapel building. People say they have seen(?)/heard a little girl, but I never had anything like that. Although, I do firmly believe there are spirits there, as I had innumerable cabinet doors seemingly open themselves when I was away and twice, I heard undeniably, while lying awake in bed, the low baritone sound of a grown man (40-60?) singing what sounded like vocal warmups or exercises. The timbre of his voice was strained, as if he was projecting his voice loudly, although the amplitude of the voice was muffled as if heard through a wall or from a distance. The first time, I thought someone in the hall was making noise and dismissed it but the second time I wandered out into the hall to check it out and the sounds stopped, resuming only when I was back in bed. The sound was pretty consistent and lasted for about twenty minutes, and was more than enough to sit and listen to. I have countless other paranormal/coincidental occurrences, from after my girlfriend's father and my grandparents passed, respectively, as well as stories from a trusted, also-cynical friend who used to wait tables at the Houston Spaghetti Warehouse. I'm extremely dismissive of superstitions, religion, but I am convinced that "ghosts" exist, and attempt to communicate with us, in whatever capacity they are able to. All I know for sure is that that capacity is limited, and probably only accessible to them ephemerally.
I've never had any crazy experiences really. I sometimes wonder if most peoples stories are true or at least exaggerated. Only 1 thing ever spooked me in my life. The house i grew up in was only 20 years old at the time, but i always felt highly uncomfortable when i was up at night by myself. I once went downstairs to get a snack(the stairs and every foot step can be heard from downstairs as it was very creeky when you walked up there.) Anyway, when i got to the kitchen, i heard foot steps from above me in the kitchen which was the game room. I felt uneasy but then i assumed it was my brother who i had thought stayed the night at a friends, so i turned the lights off and made my way to the stairs when i heard steps coming down very slowly. I couldn't see **** so i called out to my brother, but no answer. Turned the lights on, no one was there. Till this day, that is the only creepy thing i have ever encountered and i have no explanation for how those noises were made. I could hear the weight being pressed down with each step. No exaggeration, i wasn't half asleep or anything, i had been up all night watching a movie. My cousin later told me he never liked sleeping in my house. When he told me that i remembered 2 different occasions of him sleeping on my floor and him having nightmares and shouting "shut the door! please shut the door!" in fear. I stayed the night with him in his house and other friends houses and never ever heard him talk in his sleep or have nightmares other than in my house.
