Sorry, I wasn't specifically referring to that website's pictures as evidence. I was referring to two independent studies of civilian casualties in Iraq that listed 10,000 as the low number, links in the more on Iraq thread I think. If you want to be specific, the US has already apologized a couple of times for killing civilians in Afghanistan accidentally. For the ones in Iraq, we have set up a bureaucracy and we actually pay Iraqis for collateral damage, but they don't publish any statistics. I guess you could assume they are off by a factor of 10 and that all the victims were adults, that would fit your math.
Enjoy your dinner... Here is my take on the similarites, and why I think my comparison is a good one: Let's look at it: Hatred from the left for Pat Tillman and the US...the other is: U.S. soldiers kill 4 more innocent children... Both titles come from 2 posters on each side of the political fence... Both titles could be taken as meaning something twisted and underlying... Both titles are not ascertained by absolute fact... Where am I wrong?...
Part of the reason this thread is garbage is because there was no question posed. There is no point to be debated. It is really just Bamma launching is grenade onto a busy street. Ya know, kinda like a terrorist. I'm not trying to compare this to another. I'm not debating whether the original author is a lefty extremist. What is the point of this thread?
Nothing wrong with Ann Coulter or G. Gordon Liddy. Not a problem. But now you're going to ridiculous extremes about the "far right." I'd counter with Marx, Lenin, Kruschev and other statist punks for you guys on the leftward side of the dial. Those guys aren't conservative, but these guys posting this trash about Pat Tillman are most assuredly liberals. They agree with the junk posted by Glynch and that godawful moron Batman Jones. So I'm just illustrating the point that many on your side are not friendly to America and hate the fact that we are the most powerful nation on Earth.
Charles Rangel was awarded the bronze strar, and purple heart for his bravery in Korea. John Kerry was awarded three purple hearts, a silver star, and a brzone star. These men dont hate America, they have risked their lives fighting for it, (Rangel doing it when he wasnt allowed to eat in the same restaurants as some of his fellow soldiers when he got home). Patt Tillman, and the hundreds of soldiers who gave their lives for our country didnt do it for George Bush, and the Republican party. Their coffins dont have an elephant flag on them , but our American one. The flag doesnt belong to any party.
I can't speak for Glynch and BJ but for me, it's not that they're "not friendly to America" as much as it's that they see a different kind of America than you. They are appalled at how this administration has hijacked the America that I know they love!
1) Hatred is an abstract term; kill is a finite one. 2) "from the left" ascribes it's origins to a political/socilogical group which is neither defined nor supported, merely assumed. ". "The left" has neither been proven to be responsible for the actions/comments you ascribe, nor has it claimed them as it's own. The U.S. military has acknowledged responsibility in the deaths of civilains, including children. 3) Glynch's title is factual, and not open to debate, unless you deny mathmatical compliation, or geo-political affiliation. Where do you get that it's not an absolute fact? Do you deny that U.S troops were responsible for these kids, or that they have previously done so? The latter title is subjective in the extreme, and non-specific. It is also not provable as an example of "left" thinking.
Well, if that America is a socialist utopia in the mold of "enlightened" Europe, thanks but no thanks. I'm sick and tired of hearing how wrong it is for the very people who pay most of the taxes in this country to get a damned tax cut! I'm tired of hearing how we need to spend more money in failed govt. schools when we spend more than ever per pupil and yet, our kids don't learn crap (that's why mine are in Catholic school, 35 miles from my house). I'm tired of being told that America is responsible singlehandedly for destroying the world's environment and is an imperialist power bent on world domination via brute force. I'm tired of being lectured on what I should drive. I'm sick and disgusted of being told that we should reduce our dependence on foreign oil, but when we want to drill for oil here......no!!!!!! We can't do that. It might hurt some caribou. But then you guys have to b**** about fighting "wars for oil!"
I am really beginning to once again feel the utmost resentment and hate towards these bleeding heart fools who know no limits to slandering our great nation, our brave troops, our dead, and our way of life and will cry about foreigners dying because of their own people. These people who call Pat Tillman a dumb jock, brainwashed grunt, etc. need to be taken out into the woods and get a little can of whip ass released on them. Why can't they comprehend the pain many have endured, the blood many have shed, the miles many have walked and the friends so many of us have lost to keep our way of life sacred and free? Why must they instead belittle the man keeping his head down and clinging to his buddy as he dies in his arms? They truely have no idea what it is like to sacrifice. This is why military service should be mandatory in the United States. It would be a guarantee that these idiots would either migrate to a lesser place or shut their pie holes about things that keep this country from being overtaken. Americans first.
Thanks, MacBeth. I'm sure my response would have either been much longer, saying basically the same thing, or shorter, not saying enough to explain the difference to ROXRAN. ROXRAN, do you get where most of us are coming from here? If you don't, I'm not sure what I can add to it.
If we hadn't build the WTC so ingeniously, imagine how many schoolchildren would have been killed by those falling towers? Now I ask you, which would have to be considered more deliberate: Ground Zero of Fallujah?
You know, if the things you originally posted bothered you so much, why didn't you go to the source and tell those people off? You don't know how we think, you just know how you want to percieve our thoughts. The way you are telling us you are reacting, it seems that would have been the prudent thing to do. But no, you came in here. That makes me question what you really think. You aren't upset by what you read. You just found something so outreageous and were happy that you had more ammo. If you tried to argue with the actual mainstream beliefs, you wouldn't stand a chance.
Tell that to the brain-addled left-wing garbage that posted those hateful things about a selfless American hero. Don't shoot me, I'm the messenger.
You're not the messenger. The messenger is indifferent. You're the little kid running around yelling "NEENER NEENER NEENER I GOT YOU ALL NOW!!! HAHAHA GOTCHA!!! PWn3d LOLOLOLLLLL!!!!" Pat Tillman would roll over in his grave just as much at disparaging comments about his service and sacrifice as he would at someone like you trying to politicize this. and before you say, "I never said any of those things", it's called hyperbole. Grains of salt for you.
That's ingenious, changing the subject to a some strawman argument. You are also making the assumption of fact without making the argument that it was necessary to invade Iraq, and all the comcomitant civilian casualties caused by coalition fire in Iraq. I don't even know what you mean by Fallujah as a question. Do you mean just the civilian casualties in Fallujah? I could also make up some inane comparison, what was more cowardly, Bush getting his connections to get ahead of the guys in line for the National Guard position which did not require combat duty or Cheney, deferring his (edit)draft callup until he could get his wife pregnant.
