Yeah, it's a bad idea. If we consider how easily the Rockets have purchased picks in that range for $3 mil, Morey would be a fool to do such a trade.
Yeah, i've noticed that some sites have him dropping to 20. Any particular reason why? Or has he just been doing poorly in his workouts.
I'm pretty astonished that the bigger Dwight Howard with a jump shot who shoots 60% from the 3-point line and can also channel Kevin Garnett when needed and has a 60% chance of becoming a superstar drops that far. Oh well, maybe teams thought he only has a 59% chance of superstardom so they couldn't take the risk any more.
Or maybe they looked at his off court issues and decided he'll never amount to anything. From outside looking in I'd assume Whiteside's mental issues were less than Cousins, but if the Rockets took Hill inspite of his offcourt issues and had cousins as a top 4 pick despite his offcourt issues, maybe Whiteside's offcourt issues are way bigger if he wasn't even on their board.
Well, my post was mainly aiming to make fun of the ridiculous amount of early hype that Whiteside received. Statements like "60% chance of being a superstar" and "bigger Dwight Howard with a jump shot" are quotes from this board. Players with > 50% chance of superstardom, especially big guys, are taken top-3, regardless of the risks involved. But I do wish the guy well. He probably hasn't had the easiest life growing up despite his ridiculous frame/athleticism. The fans of the Kings deserve some good things for a change(I don't necessarily think Tyreke dribbling the air out of the ball is that great). And the league certainly needs more talented center types.
I think he still has the chance to be a good player coming off the bench. Maybe after a few years, he will be able to start sucessfully for a team. Alot of players are hyped in the draft. It's part of the process. Actually, we could definitely use Whiteside off the bench in our current condition.
Chose the #33 to remember he was drafted 33rd (fell from the lotto all the way down), I think thats pretty cool, a la Arenas.
