He plays in the same conference; Marshall Thundering Herd...

    ...their court looks tiny!

I dont think there's alot of risk in the 14th pick in the draft for us its not like the talent behind him is immense ..

1-7 pick it is risky to pick someone like whiteside .. but its not like the future of a franshice depends on him ..

If we move up in the draft, I'd imagine Monroe, Johnson, and even Cousins would be on our radar.

If we stay put then I think might Henry, Whiteside, or Alabi (if the other two are unavailable.

They gave up 3 picks to get to 7 for griffin, curry went 3rd, and stro went 2nd. We're talking about the 14th pick going to a team that went to the 2nd rd 2 yrs prior. At 14 and having a .500 ball club allows the team certain luxuries that other teams don't have. They don't even have to play a guy like whiteside or alibi in year 1.

Agree, this may be the year that the rockets finally have the room to take a flyer on an athletic big. If people have been watching the current playoff, you have to come away with realizing that size matters and just having Yao and a bunch of midgets isn't going to cut it.

You do realize that this theory only works if we DON'T make a trade. If we keep hill, Bud and those picks.

If we DO trade away Hill and other assets we can't take a flyer because the player we draft will need to contribute.

Some times a bird in the hand is worth a cousins in the bush. :)

Are the bigs in this draft really THAT much better then hill is right now?

When jordan has got steady PT he has produced.

If Hill could re-enter the draft this year no doubt he would go top 10.

imho Hill + 14 pick > Cousins or Favors

All depends on what you get for Hill and other assets. I seriously dought Morey would bank on a rookie contributing in his first year.

Unless that rookie was Cousins, Evans or Wall who, IMO, will have an immediate impact on their teams this season.

I think Cousins, Favors, and Monroe have the potential to be future all-stars or solid starters. Hill could be top 10 again, but it would still be on the lower end. He could not crack the top 5 or 6 this year. Hill is probably better than Aldrich. This draft seems more top heavy and more quality players further down the list than last year

Plus, all three are also can play could possibly be instant starters and contributors, while Hill even at this point is still more suited of backup power forward and more of a project pick than say a guy who is expected to come in a help a team immediately, like three above.

It's also not out of the question to believe that Hill was picked higher last year than he should of been.

He was drafted ahead of Jennings, DeRozan, and Lawson.

While, the Knicks were specifically on the market for Rubio or Curry.

Hoopshype was granted access to the workout of Whiteside and Orton. I won't post all of the story but the one thing that caught my eye was this.

[B"]Both players have been working out with Houston Rockets bigman Hilton Armstrong who looked like a man body wise compared to the pair. In the one on one exericse, the trio would take turns going one on one against each other. Armstrong beat them 5-0-0, showing that the young bucks still have a ways to go. They just could not score on Armstrong or against each other, while Armstrong used his strength, experience and savvy to find ways to score on them."[/B]
Thats a little scary if neither of them can beat a scrub.

They also had pictures. Whiteside's fame makes him look like a small forward.

I don't get what the cousin's hype is all about. Future all star? Please. The guy's fat and lacks explosiveness

Whiteside is a project but it seems to me he's a better one than cousins. Unlike cousins, whiteside is in shape. Unlike Cousins, Whiteside sought out Hakeem on his own. Like Cousins, whiteside is also tall and isn't a stiff. If we're moving up just to select Cousins, I'd rather have hill and whiteside.

Whiteside is OLDER than Cousins so there goes your project argument. Whiteside just got skunked by Hilton Armstrong....HILTON ARMSTRONG!!.

Yeah by ONE YEAR. Apparently in your mind once you reach 20 years old you should be an instant contributor in the NBA, while 19 years old means you're rawest of the raw.

Hilton Armstrong's pwnage is already discussed in the other thread, however I'm pretty sure Armstrong would have "skunked" Cousins as well had they worked out, esp. since Cousins is a big tub of lard without any explosion. The scary part is this already supposed to be the best shape of Cousins' life, he had been going on a seafood and salad diet to slim down heading into the combine.

Look at where his left hand is... He's going to need to work on that shooting form..
