Not a terrible first half, but he isn't hustling much for lose balls and is getting bullied down low. I don't know if it's a lack of effort or strength, but he is not getting in position for rebounds. Hopefully he will bulk up a little in the offseason, along with Jordan Hill.

    because

You could see dude was just dragging his body up and down in the last few possessions of the half.

I love how opposing players after beating their man, just look at Thabeet under the basket, and go elsewhere because there is no way they finish with him in there.

Having said that I think one off the biggest problems is that Thabbet doesn´t have the mental focus to go after every single board, or atleast box out his man. Someone need to tell this guy he is a 7´3 player, there is no way someone will get quicker or higher then him.

But as knote32 said, he just looks out of shape, so this season for him is just about getting basic fundamentals on both ends, and work on a dominating paint mentality/body next year.

As Knote said Thabeet DOES look out of shape, I was thinking the same thing. He's just dragging up and down the court and I hope this is because he just isn't in game shape since he barely plays.

Never been a fan of this stat but the player with the highest +/- on the Vipers is Thabeet with -6. Considering that this is a blowout, that isn't bad at all.

He is affecting things with his presence though. It's not like he's completely useless out there...lol I'd rather have him stand under the rim for 6 minutes than have Brad Miller out there at least.

Thabeet with the backdoor pass! Rick Adelman would be proud!

He has caused about 10 missed shots. That is clearly what he can do on an NBA level right now. As someone pointed out earlier, he needs to shore up his boxouts and his positioning. Sometimes it is ok to get to a spot and get your hands straight up in the air. You don't have to have monster swats every single time down. I expect him to persue rebounds better when he gets in better shape.

He is far from thin, he actually looks quite strong, but I would love to see him get that Yao-esque base. He needs to hit the weight room HARD!

not a bad start really. He's doing what we want him to do...4 blocks and at least 7 affected shots.

As many have said his rebounding needs to improve though, his work before the actual rebound that is.

Not too bad of a game by Thabeet. Once he gets his legs under him he should get more active on the glass. His presence as a shot blocker is undeniable as he was able to affect many shots without hardly having played up until today.

JG, he looked as if he no legs and was winded (thats what happens when you only play 4 minutes and very few practices in over a month). He needs to go up with both hands on the boards and you can tell he is a natural shotblocker. When he gets into shape over the next few games and shakes off some of the rust, we should see some good rebounding and shotblocking numbers from him.

11 points on 5 for 5 shooting from the field, 6 rebounds, and 4 blocks in 26:20 minutes of play.

Not bad at all for being fresh off of the plane from Houston. The Vipers coaches said before the game that Thabeet would get 20 minutes a game because of who he is and anything beyond that he would have to earn. They gave him an extra 6:20 over that, so that is something positive anyway.

Thabeet I think this is a pretty good statline for a guy that probably hasn't practiced for the team and is obviously not in the best of shape right now.

    11 points (5/5)
    6 Rebounds
    4 Blocks

Hopefully he looks better the following games but I'm confident at the very least he can be a solid back up center.

I'm very happy with his shot blocking.

Only thing though is in the NBA just standing under the rim isn't going to deter some of these guys. I mean if Wade was coming through the lane he'd just dunk on the guy, same for other guys like JR Smith and many other players on every team.

This something to work upon. He will get better with practice and getting pt will get him into shape.

Please, don't do this. The asset in the trade was the 1st rounder. Thabeet was for contract matching purposes only.
