Because Curry hasn't been doing it consistently. Yao has outplayed Shaq on 2 occasions now and has had brilliant flashes in the other games. Even the very first match-up when Yao started by blocking a couple of Shaq's shots and scoring on the other end. The game-sealing dunk was just a bonus. Also we're winning more against them.

Oh and we do play them 4 times a year as opposed to 2.

Hakeem vs. David Robinson in 94 = domination.

Hakeem vs. Shaq in 94 = outplayed.

Yao vs. Shaq 04 = slightly outplayed.

See, becareful when making comments like this. People don't understand, we double-teamed Shaq and fouled him as much as we could. Yao had it 1-1. To say Yao outplayed him is stretching reality.

I dissagree. You can't take away from their performances by what defense was drawn up on them. Shaq gets COUNTLESS trips to the line whe he shouldn't and usually half of his points come from freethrows. Meanwhile, Yao takes Shaq one on one and scores more FG's then Shaq because of it. It's a wash but Yao's finesse easily overshadows Shaq's large ass err power... as Hakeem did.

Ahh, I was at that game... what a beauty it was. I loved screaming "SHAQ SUCKS" at the top of my lungs the entire game. I had 4 guys buy me beers because of my loud ass mouth, and I got a couple of "look-ups" from Shaq while he was at the line.

I think Yao can guard Shaq one on one straight up, but JVG don't want to take a chance. I really truely don't think Shaq has the height to shoot over Yao and if he's going to push Yao and try to dunk on him....good luck to him cuz that's also tough to do. It's not easy to dunk over Yao period. I always believe that this is a team game and one of the reason Shaq is dominating is because of his teammates. His teammates pass him the ball precisely at the right time when Shaq is in the position to receive it. Now does this mean Shaq is dominating OR is it because of great passing from his teammates?? See when you study why Shaq is dominating u got to look at both side too...like why is he dominating?? Is it because he's playing on a Phil's system or is it because he has great teammates who pass him the ball precisely where he want it to go?? Personally I think Shaq won't be as dominating if he don't have the teammates to help him out. If he established position and nobody passes him the ball or late at passing the ball, would he be still dominating?? Don't think so. So with that said, I think Shaq's dominating has a lot to do with his teammates who have perfected those passes into him. A lot of time he scores not because he's going one on one with the ball, but rather his teammates feed him the ball with great timing and precision AND of course cleaning off offensive rebound. But really Shaq won't do much going against Yao one on one, that's my 2cents. He doesn't have enough repertoires to beat Yao offensively. He can't shoot over him and can only bang, but that still does not guaranteed that he's going to get a dunk everytime cuz Yao isn't that easy to be pushed around either. Only way he can score over Yao is if he caught him off guard or his teammates pass him the ball at the right time in the right place.

On the other hand, Yao has the offensive shooting touch to score over Shaq anytime. Shaq said Yao can't guard him one on one, who does he think he is??? Geez i watched a couple of their games and Yao mostly did guard him one on one and Shaq can't do much about it. He's always in denial even if he got beat, that's Shaq and his arrogant attitude. That's a sign of a loser, he's all about me me me and selfish and jealousy just as Kobe Bryant predicted it. He always think above others like he's out of this world...but never faced the fact...i swear even if he got beat, he would not say it. This is a man that will never give anybody props even if they play great. Always excuses or come up with some type of excuses when he lose...I learned that as a Kings fan. That's why i hated his attitude....I hate his arrogant, I hate the way he looks above others. That's one more reason i want Yao to succeed.

Two Rockets centers have and will run circles around our fat friend Shaq. I don't hate him, because without his arrogance we wouldn't have great post-game interviews after he gets schooled by finesse centers time and time again. With another offseason of strength conditioning and JVG preaching the inside game Yao will be known as the best center in the game. I hate Bill Walton but he was right about The Dream, and he's right about Yao.

Yao spent most of the game guarding Shaq one on one until late in the 3rd when he got into some foul trouble and then Cato guarded Shaq one on one. Yao started guarding Shaq again later in the game but he certainly was not harrased any more than Yao is on a nightly basis.

Don't make excuses for Shaq. Yao Ming out played him.
