I find it interesting too. I can think of two possibilities: (1) He is just an attention w****. All he wants is to start a provoking thread so no one would be able to resist the temptation to click on it. Then 5 years later, he will come back and brag to us that he owns one of the most popular thread ever on this site. (2) He has been banned. What other possible reasons can you think of?
I'm actually going to agree with the guy. Yao only gets rebounds that fall in his lap. It's rare for him to go up and get the ball with any competition. I understand what the guy who started this is saying. Look at Dennis Rodman compared to Yao(in a rebounding sense)... Rodman would go and FIGHT for a board. Yao almost never will go up with someone(usually to his lack of a vertical) and fight for a board.
The other posters have talked about this issue in this thread. This is one of them: Positioning for rebounds is important. Yao got the rebounds that seem to fall in his lap in your eyes because he got the position to secure the rebound. Usually players from the other team would just run back to play defense under the situation. That's why it seems like Yao was all alone to get the rebound with no competition. That's also why it seems like the ball just 'falls in his lap' in your own words. Have you ever played competitive basketball before? I am sure you will tell me you did. But, if that's the case, why does it seem like you have no knowledge of rebounding at all?
Oh, I guess the way I structured my post is a little confusing. My post is strictly addressed to CRJames14, not to RocksMillenium. I quoted RocksMillenium because he made a very good point about the technique of rebounding.
