Has Vitale ever taken back what he said about Yao?

    It was not brought up as you predicted. :( I think he's on Vandermeers show in the 3 o'clock hour if I heard the commercial correctly. Maybe he'll ask him, but knowing his knowledge (or lack of) of the Rockets I doubt it.

    Sweet. From listening to Rome, Vitale must be doing some sort of promotion and must be on a lot of stations today. I bet Vandy will be the only one to bring up Yao, so it'll be interesting to hear his reaction.

    Actually, I think when Dick Vitale made his pro-Jay Williams statements, it probably sounded like this:

    "I 'ink 'ousto' i' ma'ing a bi' 'is'ake. 'Ey 'eed to draf' Jay."

    Then he got off his knees, wiped off his chin and looked Coach K (who was zipping up) in the eye:

    "How was that, baby? Super duper!"

    Not that Vitale is an East Coast hummer...I mean, homer.

    I literally hate watching this guy on TV...I hate his voice, his "baby..." cliche...He's an ass wipe, period...

    No talent old man who thinks people care what his opinion is...

    Vandy just brought up the Yao quotes.

    Vitale: "I didn't say that. I never questioned his ability. I'd never seen the kid play. Has a chance to be special, needs to be more agressive. Has great character, great kid from what I hear."

    Totally freakin' LAME!! He says "I'D NEVER SEEN THE KID PLAY" yet he can make comments like he did? What a DICK !!!

    Vandy was totally unprepared because he didn't have the quotes handy when Vitale questioned him. :mad: Now that Vitale is off, Vandy says he wish he had the quotes in front of him.

    He didn't have them in front of him when he asked him about Yao. It wasn't until Vitale was gone that he found the quotes and read them again.

    Thanks for sending them anyway.

    Vitale did say he likes the Rockets and McGrady in particular before Vandy brought it up.

    Yeah i heard the interview. I just don't think Mark should have apologized.

    Will Dicky V. be making an appearance on 790 today? I was surprised he was on 610 rather than 790 since he's affiliated with ESPN

    the most annoying creature on the planet is dick vitale. all he is good at is cutting off the main guy calling the game when a major play takes place by saying "oh baby, ohhhhhhhhhh, oh i cant believe it, oh baby" i trully cant stand him and am very glad to see he still has not been voted into the broadcasters hall of fame or whichever one he is trying to get into. his opinions are meaningless to me.
