nobody has figured him out, all he did was make a bad pump fake that one time vs the Spurs, doesn't mean he's been figured out by the league, he is very consistent for the most part

Have you seen a game with Scola or Landry in it? When we get a turnover Scola is usually the first player behind the guy that got the steal. Landry meanwhile is faster and stronger in finishing around the post, but unlike Scola, off the dribble can't create his own shot that well. Did you see how Thomas forced him all the way back to the three point line when he had the ball on Saturday?

real_egal, is right though, the Rockets didn't get Scola the ball enough last night. Although part of that was because the Spurs game planned for Scola and whenever he got the ball would double team him.

I noticed that, Landry can't create a shot by himself worth a ****

Taking into consideration most of the games that Scola played which I've watched, he is still one of the most (if not the most) consistent players of our team. He has the basics of an effective power forward in this league or in basketball in general for that matter. You never underrate the fundamentals. Sure, he is not a flashy player but he is sure fun to watch.

I'd rather have a fundamentally-sound power forward than have a flashy show-boating one. When the pressure is high, you will return to your basics, your basketball foundation.

ohho.. i noticed that after watching like first 4-5 games last season. he really only goes to the right.

still. he is amazingly solid on rebounds and defense more than Landry although Landry himself is an amazing player who deserves much playing time.

Scola guards Boozer when Yao plays? Are you talking on both ends or just offensively where Boozer usually plays Scola? I mean, if you want to go by a positional breakdown Scola basically played Boozer to a standstill last year in the playoffs. That's pretty shocking considering Boozer is an established star, a 20-10 player that got canceled out by a first year player. Sure, we all know he isn't the greatest defender but at least he has the offense, rebounding and intangibles to come right back at the Boozer's of the world.

If the point of this thread is to convince me Landry should be the starter some of you guys need to step up your game. No offense. (Not directed at you, Saleem)

I do feel that Luis did a good job against Boozer in the playoffs. I did feel that Boozer out rebounded him quite easily in the last game when Luis got only 5 rebounds which was a bit disappointing.Honestly,I feel the more experience Luis gets he should be able to get better on both ends but more likely on offense since that is the stronger part of his game. I know your comments about Landry weren't directed against me.

The NBA will never figure out Scola because he is a euro style player and he has so many moves and it has been proven even if you make him go right he will do everything and pull moves out his a** to score. He is amazing to watch as BULL says all the time on the telecast.

Hopefully, the rebounding issue is just an experience or "learning curve" type deal with Scola. Boozer is a monster rebounder though so that probably shouldn't surprise you too much. Scola seems to be more consistent and improving his work on the boards this year. The best thing about him is his nose for the ball. He always seems to be in position to make a play.

they have different types of games, scola is crafty, uses position well and does all aspects of the game well while landry uses his athletism to get what he wants. love them both. we can win with them at the 4, not sure about AB at the 1 though :(

everyone in the nba has been "figured" out. this is where the team's scouts earn their money. Players get their points by being taller, faster, stronger and more athletic than their peers.

scola is no super star but he is strong and skilled which makes him valuable. one night he may shut down david west but the next night he may get owned by pau gasol. It all depends on MATCHUPS.

No complaints about Scola from me! This guy is a workhorse. In the Spurs game, they actually doubled team him in the beginning and kinda took him out of the game. They figured out he is good.

    Has the NBA figured Scola..out?

It won't matter in the playoffs, he'll be pretty good.

    Right guys?

I don't really think it matters what a defender THINKS he knows about Scola's game when they're behind him in the paint and they're getting the car wash treatment from Scola's hair has he spins around . .

...lemme get this straight. the guy averages a double double for a month, and you want him benched because nba teams HAVE NOT figured him out yet? and because he's not fast?

you're logic is crazier than ron in the 4th.

    Now I've heard it all...

As if "Start Lowry!" and "Fire Rick Adelman!" wasn't bad enough, people don't want Scola to start? This is getting a bit ridiculous. Is this because he didn't get a double-double against San Antonio? Is this another knee-jerk reaction?

One stupid comment from Clyde caught on with the whole fan base? He mentioned long ago that Scola has no left. That is stupid, the guy can finish very well with his left hand. Of course it's tougher, but Scola is very ambidextrous.

Ridiculous how one wrinkle comment from Drexler is dragging on so long about such a great player.
