Has Omer Asik played his last game as a Rocket already?

That's the way the NBA works. Howard threw a tantrum till the Magic traded him to LAL. Melo threw a tantrum till the Nuggets traded him to NYK. Kobe threw a tantrum forcing the Lakers to get Pau and more help for Kobe....Every single NBA player would do exactly what Asik has done except maybe Lin. Jeremy is a choir boy who doesn't speak up for himself. Everyone else would do the same thing. Asik is a good center.

If Asik played his best the Rockets would be hysterically happy. They would gladly pay his salary and keep him as a 15 mpg back up center and insurance policy for Howard.

They had no intention to trade Asik and still prefer not to is Asik is willing to play the 15 mpg backup role to his best.

This is not what is best for Asik. 2 years wasted in his prime is not what he signed up for. He's a top 10 center.

No other top 10 center would go along and play the 15 mpg backup role.

Those other guys you mentioned actually went out and played though(Dwight eventually stopped when he had his back surgery). Unless you truly buy that Asik's injured(and I sure as hell don't), then he's basically sitting on his ass collecting millions while his current team which remains the Rockets could use his help.

Remember, Smith has been out most of the season with knee injuries, so they've had no backup center other than Asik basically the entire year. Just because Omer doesn't like being relegated to 15-20 minutes a night doesn't mean he's entitled to sit out until the Rockets front office accommodates him by trading him elsewhere. Be a man, play the best you can under admittedly less than perfect circumstances, and eventually you'll either get traded or your contract will run out and someone else will sign you.

Asik, is getting paid to do a job and if he did that job he may be traded right now.

The Rockets organization understands that he wants to be traded, but he hurt his self with his attitude by driving down his trade value.

Asik, is not a superstar and the other guys you mentioned are superstars and they continued to play.. Not go into a corner and sulk.

He signed a contract, now honor it until your request has been fulfilled.

I don't think Asik is injured at all. I think he is fully healthy with a few boo boos and if Howard wasn't here, he would start 75+ games for us. I also think he would play right away if he was traded.

I just sympathize with him more than some clutchfans members.

I remember all the trash centers who played for us after Yao.

The center position is hard to fill and we should not be so harsh on Asik after what he did last season. I also give Asik a lot of credit for us landing Howard.

No Asik, no playoffs last year, and Howard stays with the Lakers since he doesn't want to sign for 30 million less to a non-playoff team

    This.

Granted I am biased towards Asik but he has every right to pull of the kind of stuff he is pulling off.

By the way, our troubles won't really disappear just by getting Asik back.

If Asik played ballz out for 15 mpg every game, Morey would never trade him. If you actually pay attention to what Morey and McHale say about how bad the Rockets are on D when Howard sits on the bench and Asik is not in the game.

Asik makes 8 million (cap) a year. That's nothing and a fair salary for a good backup center.

Rockets had no intention to ever trade Asik and he knew it. He played the only cards he was dealt.

Yes to the casual fan making 60,000 a year this looks bad but every NBA center as good as Asik would do the exact same thing if they were in this situation

You lost me here. Asik isn't some every-man people's hero. He signed a contract, and isn't fulfilling it. If you signed me to a multi-million dollar contract, I'd be OK playing second fiddle for 2 years maximum. Even if Morey doesn't trade him, it's up to him to sign his next contract. I'm surprised that you think all people should automatically consider themselves more important than a commitment, and a team.

The injury makes it tough to sort truth from fiction.

If we had an elite PF we would not need an elite C.
It happens around this town they prefer a C over a PF.

His stellar play here last season made him a hero to me and I'm sure to some Rockets fans as well.

I can also see the big picture and how Asik got us Howard.

I also remember the 3 years missing the playoffs before Asik came here and how terrible we were at the five position after Yao and before Asik.

I don't blame him and honestly can't see why anyone would. Just trade him and get some assets back.

Asik did us good. He didn't harm this organization he helped it greatly: great year last year, playoffs, helping us get Howard.

Rockets should have shopped him in the offseason like Asik wanted. But Morey wanted to keep him and have a superstar defensive center in the game for all 48 minutes. Plus don't forget. Howard's back is still a question mark.

Rockets had zero intention to ever trade Asik till he forced their hand and he is only doing what he must.

This is his prime. He already sat on the bench in Chicago when he was good enough to start. If he sits 2 more years he basically wasted most of his prime as a backup

Moses, Dream, Yao, Sampson(he was a combo 4/5), Howard would do that to a town. :)

So how is this tactic working for him... He signed a contract for 8 mil and that's a lot more than what he was making and if he was traded he would still be making 8 mil.

He signed a contract to play, there was no stipulation that it was as a starter. If you have a chance to get a top 3 player or the best player at a position you go for it.

Asik, signed a contract... So honor the contract.. At this point he could be in jeopardy of losing his career.. The Rockets have the option to keep him on the bench and say "F" it.. So his best option is to play and honor his contract.. He's in no position to make a lot of demands.

I am not sure that Asik is refusing to play because he got demoted, but what's the difference between refusing to play because you're not happy with your role and what Royce White did?

Hey - Newsflash - Asik isn't a Kobe, Melo, or Howard. He doesn't get to throw that kind of tantrum.

He's a complimentary starter on a good team and a star player on a bad team. THAT'S IT. He is NOT a superstar. He's not really a star at all. He's a nice piece to have at the 5, but he is replaceable.

    Stop making excuses for him.

Asik let morey know what the deal was this summer in a low key manner. He just couldn't take it anymore after he wasn't moved. It's not right but this happens.

Imagine if prey would've got iggy and parsons had to go to the bench.

Asik played a major role of getting to the playoffs and was a franchise center.

He is without a doubt NOT a scrub, but he is also NOT a top 10 NBA center.

Top 10 centers in the NBA, in no particular order..

    Howard
    Hibbert
    Drummond
    Anthony Davis
    Gasol
    Noah
    Cousins
    Lopez
    Chandler
    Pekovic

Which one of those is Asik better than? None of them.

Look, Asik is a good player, but he is not as good as you, and many CF members think he is.

Asik needs to stop complaining and sit on the bench , ready to get his name called like he is getting paid to do.

Losing his career; LOL. He's already got plenty of guaranteed money, he just wants to play. Morey has chosen not to trade him, and risk being a first round exit. Morey has more to lose than Asik right now. To sign 2 max guys and then completely waste a season like what is happening now is pretty inexcusable.

Half these players you named can't stop certain players when the game is on the line. So it's all about what you value, offense, defense, or rebounds on how our team is setup. If we're talking defense & rebounds he's top 3 center in the NBA
