I wonder if the Rockets/Cavs would do a Asik for Bynum trade.

I ran it through the espn trade machine and it says it can be done straight up.

Bynum can still give you 15 good minutes as a back up and that's all we need to give Howard a breather.

I don't buy Asik being injured either. I think Morey and McFail are just afraid if they play him, he'll half-ass it out there and cost the Rockets wins while potentially damaging his trade value. It's not even that I mind Asik quitting on the team and faking an injury(or at least not attempting to play through it). What I do mind is that Morey is letting Asik get away with it and wasting an opportunity to get something for him before his contract makes him far more difficult to move. This team desperately needs help with their depth right now and they're in no position to be biding their time til the trade deadline just to see if they can squeeze an extra draft pick out of someone.

It's not that hard to move him Feb 2015 as a expiring contract before the trade deadline. The Rockets would have already paid most of his contract next season too by then.

So we're gonna have Asik sitting around for the next 13 1/2 months collecting millions of dollars and doing nothing while we wait for that perfect deal to surface(which 9 times out of 10 Morey whiffs on)? Move him now and get this team some help. Their bench is Brooks, Garcia, Casspi, and Greg Smith for God's sake! We cannot win games consistently with that lineup.

    It's very fishy indeed.

It's more clear as time goes by that the injury story is fabricated. Even Bill Worrell got frustrated and said "and Asik's out and we don't know anything about him."

I would trade him now. Morey wants to trade him now (before this year's trade deadline).

Just pointing out you are not correct that it would be more difficult to move him in the future.

I think the longer we wait, the harder it will be to move him simply because we're getting closer to that final year of his contract with the insane amount of money he's due. That's going to give some potential trade partners pause when considering whether they want the guy.

There is no need to hate Asik.

Every single person here would do exactly what Asik has done.

Remember he chose to sign with the Rockets as a FA.

He balled last year and helped this team make the playoffs starting all 82 games.

Through no fault of his, the Rockets signed a center to take his starter position away.

NBA players have a few years of prime. Asik is already mid-late 20s. This is his prime. He doesn't want to waste 2 years playing 15 minutes as a backup when he proved last season he is a top 5 or at worst top 10 starting center in the NBA.

He asked to be traded during the summer after Howard signed here. Morey chose not to shop him.

Asik played the cards he was dealt.

If Howard never signed with the Rockets, Asik would have played amazing D for 3 years and played decent O for this team and everyone would love the big fella.

I can sympathize with him. Asik is not a bad guy.

if i were Asik i wouldnt play either in the risk that i get injured and suffer a major injury. in that situation i(asik) would never get traded, id want to be 100% for my next team not the lying Rockets that promised me a starting center job.

Nobody (NBA billionaire owners) cares about the 15 million when only 8 million counts towards the cap or luxury tax.

Les can throw in 3 million as "cash" and the opposing team would only be on the hook for 8 million cap, 12 million salary to Asik for 1 year.

That's nothing for a NBA owner. They amnesty players and pay them 10+ million to go away.

I don't agree with you there. Plenty of guys in this league both present and past have found themselves in bad situations be it a lousy contract, lack of playing time, or being stuck on a losing franchise. But not all of them just pack it in and quit until they're shipped to another team.

Remember all the trash centers the Rockets paid millions to after Yao's era till we got Asik. The old timers like Camby who never even played but got paid millions. David Andersen... How scrubs like Dalembert refused to even consider us.

No need to hate Asik. He signed here and he played like a man till the Rockets decided to replace him with Howard.

We can root for the Rockets but there is no need to hate on good guys like Asik who did nothing wrong.

Asik signed a contract to play ball...

Be a man and play out your contract until you're traded... Everyone gets it that your ego is hurt. But as you can see, throwing the 3 year old temper tantrum is not helping in any way.

This is a business and the fact is he signed a contract to play no matter if he's the starter or coming off the bench.

He's a top 10 NBA starting center. He's not a scrub. At least 20 NBA teams, most likely more, would start Asik and play him 30 mpg+. The Rockets refused to trade or shop him in the offseason.

Either do this or be Howard's backup playing 15 mpg which is what the Rockets want.

Asik is doing what is best for his career. He's not a bad guy at all.

We paid trash centers millions and they did much less than Asik.

No Asik and we do not make the playoffs last season and most likely Howard does not sign with us. Being a playoff team was a factor in Howard turning down 30 million more from LA.

I doubt it, this man has been out long enough for that thigh to heal.

It's really just sad to see a grown ass man take this trade like this, man grow up and go play some damn basketball. There millions of people on this earth who would want to play basketball for millions of dollars. Yet, you cry because they when after the best center.
