A perfect example of this (for me) is Smashing Pumpkins. Yes, I know Billy is a pretentious a-hole. Yes, I know they rip off My Bloody Valentine. Yes, I know they take themselves way too seriously. Yes, I hated when Billy shaved his head and started wearing a cape. Yes, I know many people consider them over-rated. I still love their music.

yeah, can't explain the cape.. prolly got that Vegas Elvis/Lebirachi(sp? im sure it is) kick.

but, he shaved his head 'cause the guy was going bald.

prefer he'd rock out sporting the trademark Van Gundy look?
