We aren't just talking about shooting. Hakeem is one of the greatest rim protectors of all time. The Rockets had the best defensive rating in the league that year thanks in large part to Hakeem. Plus even with a much slower pace Lebron was taking only .7 less shots per game than Hakeem. That 10% doesn't mean much when the player is taking more shots per possession.
It's a very good thing until the physical strength starts to fade in the second half of one's career.
Too bad he has no other skills to fall back on, like passing. The Rockets also sucked that year and lost in the first round and Hakeem finished 7th in MVP voting...great rebounding/blocking season for Hakeem who was robbed of DPOY, but with 24 points in a high-paced era, a lot of turnovers, and 2 asssists, it's really not an all-timer of a season, and LeBron's proficiency on offense way overshadows it.
like anybody was supposed to threaten the lakers in the early 2000's? the lakers were a 2 superstar team in an era full of 1 superstar teams. duncan spurs vc raptors t-mac magic ai sixers j-kidd nets even towards kobe's 2 championships without shaq the lakers (after 09) had the most dominate front court (in a league of weak bigman) and most talent of any team in the league.
Lebron hasn't shot 53% for his career. What 3 seasons are you counting as better than Dream in 89-90?
He shot 53% this season. His 3 MVP seasons were all better than that 89-90 Hakeem season, as was Hakeem's actual prime in the mid 90's. And it's not even close. If you just want to go by raw rebounding numbers and blocks and not adjust for pace or era, then it gets very dicy, and Hakeem is passed up by all the 60's era cheap stats.
I was going to bring up the 92-93 season since you seem to care more about pace and fg%. You really think Lebron's 09-10 MVP season was better than Hakeem in 92-93? Hakeem shot a better percentage from the field and free throw line, averaged 6 more rebounds, 3 more blocks, and had fewer turnovers. Does 5 more assists and 3 more points per game make that a better season to you? BTW the difference in possessions was 94 Hakeem and 91 Lebron.
Maybe have either one of yall watched them play? Stats are stats, you gotta see the tape! Both of yall are throwing numbers at each other with no remorse
I saw them both play and thought Dream was more dominate. I don't think Lebron could have led a team to the title in 93-94 without another all star on his squad.
Kobe is better than Lebron or Lebron is better than Kobe is debatable. But saying Shaq won all those rings simply because of kobe is plain arrogant and dumb.
I was referencing the Hakeem and Lebron argument; it is easy to see Lebron and Kobe in the modern times.
I saw him live maybe 10 or15x at the Summit. And once at the Capitol Centre in Landover MD right after the Clyde trade.
